MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Oct 14, 2007 Cloudy off wheaty color thick khaki colored head w/ great lace. Oak & hop aroma fill the nostrills some sweet other ripe fruit definate wine like qualities & hints of brown sugar. Well coated pal. Sweet flavor lots of caramel w/ an oddly dry grassy finish some dark fruits hints of plum. Good stuff. RAYBOY01 (1812), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 2, 2007 First of all, anything...ANYTHING with 90 minute in it is alright with me. This IIPA has a huge sweet caramel malt palate that I find way over the top, at least as far as sessionability goes. But great big 90-minute style PNW hopping shines through the syrupy notes and saves the whole thing from going over the edge of the cliff. The alcohol is pretty prominent and in your face about it. Generally a very interesting brew. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Oct 2, 2007 Bottle. Aroma of piney and bready hops, dry resin with fruit, vanilla, sugar, and a touch of eye-watering alcohol. Some oak, but not dominated; stronger notes include vanilla, subtle blending bourbon, and an earthy strain of yeast. Golden-amber body with a soapy, fizzy tanned head. Full body is dominated by cloying, physically-palpable sugar, with late-rising bitterness rushing up to try to balance but ultimately failing. Pleasantly warming, but with boozy aggression flaring up into the nostrils. Aftertaste is very dry (with only a memory of the bag of sugar dumped into every bottle) and bready, long-lasting and likely the best thing about this beer. Noticeable vanilla and woody notes in the main course, along with the hoppiness from the 90 Minute, but all of these are lost along the way. Just too sweet! csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Sep 28, 2007 Bought in Florida and drank in the Bahama’s. Reddish color with a cream colored head. Aroma is herbal, earthy hops, caramel, and a touch of wood in the background. Initial taste is huge caramelly malt along with citrus and tropical flavors. There is a short lived, moderate bitterness and a spicy, alcoholic finish. There is enough residual sweetness to leave a nice honeyish flavor, but not enough to be cloying. Nice mouthfeel. Very interesting. It seems like a brash, young IPA that is being restrained by a stately old ale/aged american barleywine. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 26, 2007 Updated: Nov 19, 2007Pours a clear darker amber with a white head that falls to nothing after a while. Nose is slightly hopped with a thick raisin quality to it. Flavor is extremely sweet at first in a syrup like kind of way. Very slight noticeable alcohol. Raisin flavor is strong. Feel is thin with bubble and thick and strong with syrup qualities. Almost seems elixir like. Definitely drinkable. I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is one of the best DIPAs around, but it is pretty interesting in a Dogfish Head kinda way. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Sep 10, 2007 12 oz. bottle, from slob (I think). Pours a hazy dark amber with a thin white head, looks a little underwhelming in the glass. Aroma is old ale-ish, sweet dark fruits, brown sugar, vanilla and oak with citrus and floral notes as well. Sweet and syrupy flavors, nutmeg, molasses, hops are present though understated with noticible alcohol. Full body, tickling, creamy carbonation. kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Sep 9, 2007 Four pack of 12 oz. bottles. Dark copper pour with nice lacing. Aroma of smoke, citrus and hops. Taste of vanilla and citrus with malt present and some alcohol. Slightly sweet, bitter finish. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 7, 2007 Thick foamy head, pale amber pour. Malt and vanilla on the nose. Sweet malt, vanilla, and some oak in the flavor. Malt overpowers the hops, but it works. Fair amount of heat, nice full mouthfeel. Good beer, but expensive.
