Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

12 oz. bottle, from slob (I think). Pours a hazy dark amber with a thin white head, looks a little underwhelming in the glass. Aroma is old ale-ish, sweet dark fruits, brown sugar, vanilla and oak with citrus and floral notes as well. Sweet and syrupy flavors, nutmeg, molasses, hops are present though understated with noticible alcohol. Full body, tickling, creamy carbonation.

Four pack of 12 oz. bottles. Dark copper pour with nice lacing. Aroma of smoke, citrus and hops. Taste of vanilla and citrus with malt present and some alcohol. Slightly sweet, bitter finish.

Thick foamy head, pale amber pour. Malt and vanilla on the nose. Sweet malt, vanilla, and some oak in the flavor. Malt overpowers the hops, but it works. Fair amount of heat, nice full mouthfeel. Good beer, but expensive.

Pours an amber color with medium head. Very sweet aroma with some pine. Taste was sweet as well with some oak and citrus. The alcohol is quite hot in this beer.

nice color and taste, love good IIPA’s like this one :) a little on the tame side with bitterness, could’ve had a bit more.

Quite interesting....and quite sweet. and not in a "sweet dude!" kind of way. This is not what I would’ve expected to be a double IPA, and I was a bit disappointed.

12 oz bottle, via cewldre. Pours a clear copper body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a partial covering. The nose is big resinous hops over a very sturdy toffee and caramel malt base. Very light but noticable oakiness. Quite unique among IIPAs, the sweet caramel and toffee malt are in the forefront with only moderate bitterness. A little vanilla, oak, and hot alcohol. A slight huskiness emerges late with lots of brown sugar. Mouthfeel is full bodied, just shy of syrupy with lots of sticky risidual sugars. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, I’d call this interesting, but not especially great.
