COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jacksonís rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

This dry and sweet beer is incredibly inviting, with a slight caramel nose, and a thin white head. The flavor is sweet at first, with a slight dry hop finish with hints of floral. Really enjoyable.

Bottle @ Odense Get Together Short Notice, August-14. Pours cloudy copper with a white head. Orange, bread, caramel and marmelade. Very malty nose. Warming and rather hot flavor with notes of oak, sherry, thick caramel and alcohol. Lots of dried fruit. Full bodied. A nice sippable Barley Wine.

Odense Late Summer Post-Munkekonge Whale Spotting Night. Dark golden with a lasting white head. Malty aroma with vineous alcohol and a hint of pine hops. Sweet malty flavour with plenty of alcohol, a touch of oak, and a mild hoppy finish. A pretty good, low-hopped American barley wine

Bottle picked up today at GBBF. Pours a dark reddy amber with a with head, Aroma is caramel, lightly funky trop fruit, orange, lemon... Medium body, medium carbonation. A light heat from booze, caramel, lightly sticky, light dark fruit, overripe trop fruit, light pepper, orange marmalade, pine, light woody resin. Nice balance. Tasty.

Not for the weak hearted. This brew pours an amber color with nice head, and lacing. A burst of honey citrus oak comes thru. Itís strong, donít get me wrong. Very good barrel aged ale! Cheers!

Pours a slightly hazy burnt orange with big head. Aroma is dominated by citrusy hops and barrel aged wood notes (oak and vanilla). Taste is super complex! Spicy, some maltiness, slightly bitter, and more of the barrel-aged aromas come through on the palate. I can feel and taste the slight burn of the high ABV, but itís not bad. Mouthfeel is bubbly and rich-- not syrupy at all. The balance between hops and other components is fabulous; not dominated by a single flavor or note. Love this one!

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 5/14/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, oak, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/floral hops, oak, and dark/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, floral, grass, light pine, oak, light vanilla, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, floral, grass, light pine, oak, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice balance, robustness, and complexity of juicy citrus/floral hops, oak, and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent oak aged DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/floral hops, oak, and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottled 1/31/13 A poured vigorously. its a burnt orange with a 1 1/2 inch off white head. head dissipates in about a minute leaving a light lacing behind. S-Oak that is almost overpowering with some hops in the background and the sweetness of the malt bill T- seriously smooth not much hop character but i do pull oak and sweetness. M- almost feels as if it was pulled from a cask. smooth and rich with a medium body. O- This is an excellent oaked ipa but with the 6 month aged on the shelf i wonder what the hop profile is like fresh.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2014 Itís good. Itís a double IPA with some other stuff added. Itís good but not much different. I can taste all the normal IPA qualities and some oakyness but really itís just a double IPA. It has a spiciness which I attribute to the oak aging. Itís nothing crazy. Dogfish Head is and excellent brewery but this one is kind of meh. Itís actually kind of nauseating. Okay beer.
