COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jacksonís rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Bottled 1/31/13 A poured vigorously. its a burnt orange with a 1 1/2 inch off white head. head dissipates in about a minute leaving a light lacing behind. S-Oak that is almost overpowering with some hops in the background and the sweetness of the malt bill T- seriously smooth not much hop character but i do pull oak and sweetness. M- almost feels as if it was pulled from a cask. smooth and rich with a medium body. O- This is an excellent oaked ipa but with the 6 month aged on the shelf i wonder what the hop profile is like fresh.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2014 Itís good. Itís a double IPA with some other stuff added. Itís good but not much different. I can taste all the normal IPA qualities and some oakyness but really itís just a double IPA. It has a spiciness which I attribute to the oak aging. Itís nothing crazy. Dogfish Head is and excellent brewery but this one is kind of meh. Itís actually kind of nauseating. Okay beer.

Bottle. Pours a translucent amber with 1/2 finger creamy white head which condenses to a thin film. Aroma of bitter, citrus hops, lemon, bread, very light malt. Less citrus once sipped. Lots of bitter, acidic hops up front with sour grapes. Finish is the oak that is nice and lasting with a pleasantly boozy aftertaste. Medium, creamy Mouthfeel with medium carboniation. Awesome oaked iIPA. All this needs is a more powerful hop profile, just my preference.

Poured from a 355ml bottle, golden color thin white head, aroma is sweet orange and some light caramel. Taste is sweet and sticky citrus, with enough bitterness to carry it off. Medium body with a tongue coating mouthfeel.

Definitely a different beer, but at the same time, it is on line with a lot of Dogfish Headís brews. The alcohol is masked but the first sip may give a person who doesnít drink bigger beers the chills. Definitely a sipper that 1 or 2 may be enough just because it isnít a beer you want to drink many of. Cheers to this!

Bottle (12oz). Amber color. Slight head. Similar (better than) the 90 minute with a slightly more boozy taste. Definitely a regular in the rotation.

bottle. Pretty wild beer. Very complex and unique taste. Doesnít possess the drink-ability of similar imperial IPAís, but great if you were having just one. Good stuff

Poured from bottle into snifter. Pours a dark brownish amber with a tan creamy head. Aroma is resin, pine, floral, and citrus. Taste is vanilla, nuts, grapefruit rind, and a small oak presence. Medium bodied, high carbonation, mild sweetness on the tongue with an end that is dry and bitter. Great beer

Vanilla and just the right touch of alchohol on the nose. Maintains creamy, frothy head all the way through. Taste is complex with maple, bourbon, vanilla on top of orange citrus and hopps. Alchohol is pleasant and warm, prominent but not overwhelming. Nice and syruppy sweet on the palate. Overall a rich, complex ipa.
