4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 fonefan (24928) - VestJylland, DENMARK - MAR 14, 2007
Bottle. Clear amber color with a small white / off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, fruit, heavy hoppy, pine, oak, alcoholic. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. I think it is a cross between barley wine and IIPA. But very nice :o))

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Soft, sweetish aroma with lots of oak. Very full body with lots of caramel and roasted malt. Some sherry-like notes. Extremely alcoholic finish that even the solid body cannot really uphold. Hoppy finish, but not overly so. Thanks to Degarth for sharing. 030406

Bottled@The Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Golden colour with small white head. Aroma is a lot of nectar, tropical fruit juice and mild wooden notes. Flavour is being quite much the same. A really strong fruit juicy beer, which hides the alcohol rather well. Pleasant!

Bottled, thanks JCW! Clear amber, small head. Sweet with notes of passion fruit and lychee. There’s candy sugar and peppery alcohol as well as plum brandy and some fruity apples. Intriguing and complex, but too sweet.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2009 2009-11-25, bottled 2009-06-19, 7-5-8-4-15=39 Wonderful dark amber color; huge head. Delicate aroma, with vanilla, malt and cookies. Good body strength, with strong caramel flavor, light vanilla and oranges; strong bitterness; maybe a bit to much warming alcohol in the end. Well blended, powerful yet balanced, but missing some complexity.
2008-10-16, Courtesy of friend Matteo, 8-4-9-4-17=42 Cloudy amber color, very thin head. Powerful aroma, malty, with a hint of sweet vanilla. Full bodied, with a strong and very sweet malt flavor, as I like, some caramel and toffee too, lightly fruity. The bitterness is not as powerful as expected, maybe softenend by the oak-ageing; in the final and with the time passing by, the caramel rises. An excellent Barley Wine. I like this kind of beer, but maybe missing some character.
