Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Dark amber pour. Aroma had the oak in full effect, with some rich floral notes from the hops. Flavor has some vanilla and sweetness to start with the hop notes coming later. Nice hop finish that does match the 90 quite closely.

bottle from DrJay. Thanks!
Pours a nice murky amber with a small offwhite head. Smell is very malty with caramel tones, some oak, and a hint of alcohol. Cloying from the nose alone... Taste is also incredibly overly sweet. Sugary syrupy sweetness and some oakiness with no balance whatsoever from hops. Not only a huge disappointment but one of the most undrinkable beers I’ve ever had. Perhaps this was extremely old???

A deep clean amber pour. Rich sweet maltiness and hops on the nose. Really sweet flavor with a light bitter finish. Palate is about as full as you could hope for a palate to be carbonation is good a very solid beer. A beer I liked very much and had for a long time. Not as hoppy as I would like a IIPA but I’d had this beer almost a year.

courtsey of markwise. pours orange - copper. Aroma has lots of malts and grains. Taste is malty and smooth, very sugary with notes of honey, fruity and light wood. Finish is thick with the hops being in the background.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a moslty clear copper with a moderate off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left some patchy lace. I was surprised at how light and frankly indistinct the aroma was. Thankfully, the beer was more flavorful than the aroma would suggest with some oak and caramel up front followed up with some nice fruity hops. Definite warming from the alcohol at the finish, especially as the beer neared room temperature. An interesting beer albeit overpriced for a four-pack.

Clear, amber in color, and has a decent beige colored head. Nice aroma of hops, pine, caramel, fruits, sweetness, vanilla, and toffee. The taste is some bitterness, fruits, sweet, alcohol, some wood, and good.
