The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2013 Draft (Reviewed from notes): Pours a dark copper/amber with a decent head that lingers... the color is very appealing. Aroma is pleasant and interesting... Smells barrel aged: Dough, spice, alcohol, and wood. Taste is bold but well balanced. A fairly abrupt finish with lingering bitters. A very nice offering however, not highly session-able. Bottle: Scores don’t change at all. Bottle is a much lighter amber with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is wonderful: caramel, cereal malt, resin sprucey hops (very prevalent), doughy yeast, maybe some leather, vanilla, woody. Something about the drafts palate made me think this brew wasn’t good for sessions... I could drink a hundred of these bottles. Dogfish Head FTW!

Tap at funky buddha lounge, boca raton. Dark copper color, white head. Aroma has sweet malts, fruity hops, mango notes. Balanced malty taste, big hops, fruity notes, some alcohol notes.

Pours amber with big frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, oak, citrus, pine. Sweet, woody, fruity, medium bitter, some alcohol. Full bodied, thick, average carbonation, bitter finish. A complex and heavy beer, enjoy it slowly. Excellent brew.

Pours clear orange gold with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Aroma of sweet malt, wood, tobacco, alcohol. Taste is similar, sweet malt with vanilla, a little hops balances it but it’s malty for an IIPA. Nice thick mouth feel.

Poured from a 12oz bottle, from Old Line Fine Wine, Spirits & Bistro. Appearance is a deep golden orange, clear, with a moderate off white foam head, and good lacing. Aroma is pungent tropical fruit, such as pineapple, mango, orange. Taste is similar, but with rich malt sweetness with some breadiness and caramel, balanced bitterness and hop flavors. Palate is medium body with a low to moderate bitterness, alcohol comes through. Overall, another great beer from the brewery.

Finalmente um Dogfish Head que vale a pena. Bom balanco entre maltes e lupulos, alcool e corpo equilibrado.

Bottle bought in Hong Kong in November 2015. A bit hazy dark orange with a white head. Aroma of orange, light pineapple, toffee and malt. The body was around medium and the finish medium bitter. A descent one although a bit old.

@ Eddan 15-12-5: Men munnkänsla med lite små toner av apelsin. Aning malt och något trött men ändå rätt ok.

Ok. Decent interesting taste with the oak but too malty for me. Wouldn't seek out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is one of my favorites. Strong malty flavor and not too hoppy. Strong like a barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. 9/2/15 bottle date (72 days old). Appearance: Deep golden orange, clear, with a moderate off white foam head. Nice lacing down the glass. Aroma: Pungent tropical fruit aromas (pineapple, mango, orange) with strong resin and a bit of green apple. Taste: Rich malt sweetness with some breadiness and caramel. Quickly rolls into a bold but balanced bitterness and hop flavors or resin, grass, pineapple, and grapefruit. Leaves a dry tartness. Mouthfeel: Medium body with a low to moderate bitterness. Alcohol warmth is there but well hidden considering the strength. Finish: Dry, sticky resin on the tongue with long lingering bitterness and touch of bready malt. Overall: Really nice complex aroma. Malt character similar to other IIPAs, and the bitterness balances well considering it’s strength. Very drinkable for a beer of this size and intensity.
