The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2014 It’s good. It’s a double IPA with some other stuff added. It’s good but not much different. I can taste all the normal IPA qualities and some oakyness but really it’s just a double IPA. It has a spiciness which I attribute to the oak aging. It’s nothing crazy. Dogfish Head is and excellent brewery but this one is kind of meh. It’s actually kind of nauseating. Okay beer.

Bottled 2015 batch. Poured in glass. An amazing brew with great complex notes and a killer finish on the palate. Smooth and gentle enough for a long night but complex enough to sip and savor, taking your time with it. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Charles Street Liquors. Aroma of vanilla, light fruit, booze, and grass. Taste is sweet, with oak and vanilla, booze, and a bitterness that creeps up over time. Smooth and tasty.

Unremarkable aroma, not floral or citrus, mostly oak. pours a beautiful dark reddish amber with off white head. Great lacing. The oak flavor dominates and some alochol comes through, but not enough to be unpleasant. One of my favorites.

Hazy copper with off white head. Aroma of biscuit, malt, bananas. Taste is lemon and caramel with woody and light bitter finish. Nice creamy feel.

From QC. Drank with Matt after Braedon's birthday. Pours clear a brown-tan. White sudsy head with huge bubbles and streaky legs. Smells of lightly bready malt, pear, banana, light Christmas-y spices, dry hop. Taste is lemony, dry, resinous and bitter, spice. Body is slick, heavy but smooth - most like the 90 Minute IPA in palate, I think. Oak barrel flavour is present but restrained, dry and spicy. Tasty interesting beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber. Aroma is sweet malt, and flavor is much more barley wine than double IPA. Not particularly malty at all. Will revisit at a later date.

Bottle from QClub at home. Slightly translucent copper amber pour with frog eyed crop circley head (yeast?). Aroma is not that strong, but quite nice - hops and booze but rounded by the oakiness. The 90-min IPA characteristics are evident. Taste is similar. Big boozy hoppy bitterness. Incredibly pine resinous, but rounded out by oaky and sweet malty smoothness. Really nice - like a more complex 90-minute IPA. Would definitely get again, but a bit steep at $65.

Bottle from Berts Growler Garage. Citrus lemony aroma, light amber body, small soapy head. Citrus follows into the flavor, sweet with minor sour elements, some tanginess. Malt profile comes forward, not hoppy at all. ABV hides in the background, becomes evident here and there. Interesting take on the IIPA style.

Pours a light caramel color. Aroma is of sweet malt and clean alcohol. Taste is a good alcohol burn with an oak aged alcohol burn. A woody barrel flavor as well. The aftertaste is very smooth, and no alcohol burn due to the perfection of the end flavor.
