Commercial Description:
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

Bottle from Calvert Wines. Pours a clear, deep amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of a grassy field, laced with flowery hops, and a dusty old room. Great, smooth body that reveals a robust hop character. Oaked flavor comes out in the finish; a hint musty. Nice malt backbone, levels the beer out. Good beer from DFH.

CLoudy amber with a hint of pink. Big time pink grapefruit juice in the aroma followed with a vodka like alcohol vibe. Buttery feel, citrus punch dominated by warm oranges. Oak and big time alcohol come through in time. weird mixed vegetable thing going on as well.

Very different example for the style, nicely complex and interesting with a woody tinge to augment a fruity malt character and hoppy finish. Quite enjoyable.

Hop nose wasn’t assaulting, but laid back. Sweet malt taste, some juicy hops. Again, laid back flavor. Toffee, cereal. Mellow. Something missing.

Clear dark amber, thin white fizzy head. Interesting nose of wood, earth, pineapple, light citrus, a tiny shot of vanilla, with a slight funky undertone. Basically, the flavor IMO, is a muted version of the 90 Minute on wood with just a hint of citrus showing up. Really not that much more going on here, but then again maybe my hopes were too high. Full bodied, prickly carbonation, drying semi-bitter finish. It’s good and certainly worth a try, but I’ll stick to my standard 90 Min any day of the week...

Corked 750 ml: This beer has improved greatly with just a few months of bottling. I’ll leave my last bottle a while longer. The harshness and lack of balance I experienced with the first bottle has mainly dissipated with great mingling of wood, hop spiciness, hop fruitiness, and solid malt sweetness.

Another Dr. Bill offering at the PP Strong Ale fest. This brew pours with a cloudy orange body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma and flavor are sweet and fruity with a caramel note. Light to medium bodied and smooth.
