Savor that green oak addition on top of intensely sweet toffee/vinous/caramel/slightly boozy nose. Warm on the tongue tasting like toffee/caramel/oak thick and sweet. Hop presence is felt, but not highlight. Slightly boozy bitterness in the finish. Finishes very nice if not a little sticky. Nice, but the process seems overkill for such a good/not great beer.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Bottle pours burnt copper with a creamy off-white head which never quite goes away. Aroma is sweet and heavy in pink grapefruit, peach, oak, and pine. Flavor however shifts in a different direction, showing notes of curacao, passion fruit, vanilla, caramel, and some nice warming alc. Overall body starts sweet and dense but finishes rather clean and bitter preparing the palate for the next sip. I honestly think the only people who say the 90 min is better, just aren’t able to appreciate the subtle nuiances of barrel aging. Yes, it’s not as aggressive on the finish as the 90, but has quite a bit more in depth. Maybe that’s just me. bedainedebiere (298), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Smooth Imperial IPA although everything is intense in there. Nutty flavors through a piny hoppiness with a very dry finish. Rather boozy. Enjoyable mixture. Chalsk (27), North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2010 A dryer version of the classic 90 Minute. Smells is very similar. Maybe a note of oak not present with the 90 Minute. Great amber appearance with a thin head, beer is alive. Full on the palate. What knocks it down my list is the finish. This is where 90 Minute makes its money over BB. A quick hit of bitter, then oak and then a dry matly aftertaste which just doesn’t do it for me. On its own a solid beer, but in the shadow of 90 Minute, it falters. deyholla (786), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2010 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a lasting yellowish off-white head. Aroma has hops with notes of pine and grass and an undertone of oak. Flavor begins with pine notes, but finishes with grassy and oak notes. KYbrewgal (17), Kentucky, USA
| 0.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Dec 31, 2009 On tap @ Sergios World Beers. Aroma of grapefruit and caramel malt sweetness. Hop forward but balanced by the malt. Caramel malt with the hops linger into the finish. Full bodied beer and easy to drink. PolishHammer (79), , Connecticut, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2009 Dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Sweet, complex aroma of hops, sugar and oak. Full mouthfeel with caramel, toffee and roasted malts. Alcoholic strong throughout. Hops on the finish, drying out some of the residual sweetness. BrotherGrendel (612), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Pours a dark amber hue with fair clarity, huge foamy offwhite head sustains, thick lacing on the glass. Nose is dominated by the unique (almost medicinal-phenol) glacier hop aroma with a hefty dose of French Oak and alcohol strength, solid underlying bread and caramel aromas. Flavor is unsurprisingly complex; initially the palate is hit with a high hop bitterness and yeasty crispness, followed by DFHs typical bready-caramel malt profile with those glacier hops in tow, very faint hints of oak, biscuit, pine, finishes rather quickly with a slight alcohol warmth. Medium-full body, thick texture, moderate carbonation. I’m a bit confused by this one, I don’t think the range of ingredients integrate well here.... first off, I think Glacier is a poor hop choice for a beer of this style due to its medicinal/phenol flavors that get overwhelmed by the strong DFH malts; the flavor is not as full as the aroma would have you believe; and the flavor quickly fades from the palate. I wouldn’t peg this as very competitive in the DIPA category, but think it fairs well as a malt-forward strong-ale. elgiacomo (106), Chickamauga, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2009 12oz bottle pours amber in the glass with a decent white head, keeps a nice cap, a little spotty lacing. Aroma is quite nice, citrus hops up front, grapefruit, some orange, followed by a caramel malt sweetness, as well as a little vanilla, banana, and butterscotch. Flavor is sweet caramel malts up front with a bitter hoppy finish. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Creamy, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Medium to high carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Very, very nice, glad I got a chance to try this.
