COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5?P, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv. Bottled in corked bottles through Michael Jackson’s rare beer club by late November 04 and available in 12 ounce full distribution in early January 05.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2008 The aroma of this beer is a sweet, oaky aroma with an underlay of citrus hops. It pours a reddish amber, with a nice off-white head. Definitely not what I was expecting taste wise, it is a sweet beer, with an underlying oak and apple flavoring, and just a bit of hops at the end. Long finish on it, and the alcohol is very well hidden. An interesting beer, but not worth the cost in my opinion. I do have several bottles cellared, and will re-rate when they are opened. (Cellared bottle) The oak notes have faded a bit, sweetness and vanilla have strengthened up in the aroma. The hops have completely fallen out. It pours the same, but the flavor has gone much sweeter. Not a fan of this one even after the aging.

Bottle from QClub at home. Slightly translucent copper amber pour with frog eyed crop circley head (yeast?). Aroma is not that strong, but quite nice - hops and booze but rounded by the oakiness. The 90-min IPA characteristics are evident. Taste is similar. Big boozy hoppy bitterness. Incredibly pine resinous, but rounded out by oaky and sweet malty smoothness. Really nice - like a more complex 90-minute IPA. Would definitely get again, but a bit steep at $65.

Bottle from Berts Growler Garage. Citrus lemony aroma, light amber body, small soapy head. Citrus follows into the flavor, sweet with minor sour elements, some tanginess. Malt profile comes forward, not hoppy at all. ABV hides in the background, becomes evident here and there. Interesting take on the IIPA style.

Barreras (1295) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - AUG 18, 2015
Pours a light caramel color. Aroma is of sweet malt and clean alcohol. Taste is a good alcohol burn with an oak aged alcohol burn. A woody barrel flavor as well. The aftertaste is very smooth, and no alcohol burn due to the perfection of the end flavor.

Good balanced , smooth beer. Caramel , pine , bread mixed together in aroma and taste. Bitterness is high but not sharp . 10% ABV ? You don't notice it at all.

12 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured an evenly turbid solid copper color when held to a light source, thin white ring about the glass for a head, aroma of oak, pine, and resin. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt is a bit uneven on the feel but wasn’t drowned to death with caramel- although some sneaks in the middle, finish is acidic to a point, but kind of slips and becomes a bit acrid. It’s alright.

Orange, small head. Malty aroma with some with some pine, resins. Resiny, sticky and malty. Medium to full bodied. More like a barley wine. Quite nice.
