4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a clear medium amber that had a slight yellow hue around the edges of the glass with a large (2-3 finger) rocky white head that was mostly lasting and had excellent lacing.
The aroma was heavy of herbal hops, caramel malts and a sweet yeast with hints of oak, honey and citrus (Grapefruit and maybe a little orange).
It tasted mildly sweet and a little acidic with a nice caramel note in the beginning. Then progressed into a hoppy-bitter-sour flavor with a nice citrus note and a mild alcohol finish, which left the flavor lingering for a good long time after the swallow.
Mouthfeel was just a tad under medium in body with the texture being smooth and creamy and having a very nice soft carbonation.
Overall a fantastic Imperial IPA that has a nice mix of sweet and hoppy with a nice citrus undertone. I really enjoyed this brew, even though I am just starting to appreciate hoppy brews.

Ok. Decent interesting taste with the oak but too malty for me. Wouldn't seek out.

This is one of my favorites. Strong malty flavor and not too hoppy. Strong like a barleywine.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle. 9/2/15 bottle date (72 days old). Appearance: Deep golden orange, clear, with a moderate off white foam head. Nice lacing down the glass.
Aroma: Pungent tropical fruit aromas (pineapple, mango, orange) with strong resin and a bit of green apple.
Taste: Rich malt sweetness with some breadiness and caramel. Quickly rolls into a bold but balanced bitterness and hop flavors or resin, grass, pineapple, and grapefruit. Leaves a dry tartness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a low to moderate bitterness. Alcohol warmth is there but well hidden considering the strength.
Finish: Dry, sticky resin on the tongue with long lingering bitterness and touch of bready malt.
Overall: Really nice complex aroma. Malt character similar to other IIPAs, and the bitterness balances well considering it’s strength. Very drinkable for a beer of this size and intensity.

Would have loved more hop presence in this new barrel aged fad......but still excellent. Old ale, bourbon, oak. Not an ipa.

Bottle. Trembling Madness, York. Hazy, dark orangey amber. Film of sticky, off white head. Big, chewy, barley wine like, orange hoppage. Minty, and herbal. Sticky fruits. Taste is thick, fruity, sweet. Big bitterness. Soft, slick, oily palate. Sweet, woody, chewy, fruity bitter finish. Mega tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, pours hazy gold, small white head. Aroma is piney hoppy, medium caramel & toffee malt, pineapple. The oak comes through late in the palate, with light bitterness. The texture is resiny, chewy and sticky. For such a hoppy DIPA, not too bitter, all nicely rounded and balanced, very very good, although there is a bit of residual alcohol in the aftertaste.
