| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2007 From capped 750. Pours a yellow with off white head, that dissipates. Honey, wheat, light fruits, sour grapes, white wine. Flavor is white wine, with light fruits. Sort of astringent aftertaste. Palate is slightly thick. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Lemon-orange hue with a small, fading, sudsy white head. Dogfish Head signature yeast and sugar properties in the aroma, plus notes of honey, grapes, wild flowers, and candied apples. Flavor has qualities of white wine, weak mead, and sweet oranges. Juicy, sparkling palate. Interesting. Has distinct elements of Midas Touch. Surely, historical beverages weren’t this poorly attenuated? A novelty worth sharing with wine snobs if only to demonstrate the tremendous breadth of beer styles available.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2007 got to try this a few times, most recently at the Monks cafe DFH dinner 12/12/06. Poured pale golden, with a sweet malty aroma. Very effervescent. Flavor tart and vinous, with some alcohol lingering on the palate. very interesting, worth another try. holdenn (1454), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Bottled thanks to xnoxhatex. Pours a very hazy yellow with strong aromas of belgian like yeasts and fruit. A sweet beer malty, it puts me off for a second and I don’t know what to compare it to. Putting it up against a belgian strong ale I see a lot of comparisons and enjoy the yeasty, fruity, citrus, and honey flavors and aromas until it kinda becomes annoying and it tastes too funky to enjoy very much. The peppery spices and yeasts are just all over messy, I guess that’s how they did it in the stone age, but we can do better now. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Hazy yellow with a minimal white head. Nose of pepper and flowers and sucrose. This is one sugary sweet beer, so much so that its hard to put back. RCL (1498), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Very interesting. Tasty blend of of honey and fruit. You won’t believe it’s 9%. Not something I’d drink everday but it’s cool to try. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Bottle. Consumed on New Year’s Eve. Fruity citrus aroma; pineapple. Murky, bright orange.Very thin, large bubble, slightly off-white head. Head is more white than off-white. I’d like more head and lace. Initial mouthfeel is sweet with a fair amount of alcohol. Certainly doesn’t taste as high as 9% though. Unique flavor. Good. A little like fruit juice. I’m not sure this is $12.99 good though. But, the label art and ancient recipe thing help. tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 28, 2006 Medium straw color, very cloudy and murky. Aroma a strange blend of perfumy flowers and honey. Flavor is also unique, sort of a winey/mead character, fairly flat and sweet but with hops and aromatics punching through to the end. Flavors just don’t seem to mesh very well. Can’t say I really enjoyed this all that much, but might try again sometime.
