COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Similar to a beer brewed in China some 9,000 years ago, Chateau Jiahu used a recipe that included rice, honey, and grape and hawthorn fruits. The formula was obtained from archaeologists who derived it from the residues of pottery jars found in the late Stone Age village of Jiahu in northern China. The residues are the earliest direct evidence of brewed beverages in ancient China.

Coppery golden color with no head. Aroma was fruity and bready with a little yeast. Flavor was decent, a bit fruity and mild floral sweetness. I thought this was a bit like a sweet wine, but with carbonation and beer aspects. Much better that expected

A - Pours a clear golden-orange color with a finger of frothy off-white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lace. S - Aroma is a mix of honey, light fruits, grape, bready caramel malt, and a bit of spicy yeasts. T - Starts off with a mix of light fruits with some pear and apricot alongside some grape, honey, and a bit of coriander. Through the middle, some more honey comes through with some more spices and yeast flavor with a bit of caramel bready malt. The finish is a mix of honey, sweet malts, light fruits, some grape, and some sake yeast, with a hint of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet, lightly spicy and warming finish. D - Very drinkable. Really nice and complex and nuanced. Good mix of unique flavors that really come together nicely.

Bottle. Golden with foamy white head that dissipated and some lacing. Smells grapey and biscuity. Sweet but not in an annoying way. Slight tartness.

Pours golden with low white head. Sour tones of citrus but also some sweet ones from caramel and honey Taste actually is close to sake. The honey there as well as the grapefruit. Nice taste but a bit one dimensional.

From bottle poured into pint glass. Slight roasty malt, citrus hops. Aroma is fairly slight. Golden, clear color that is very easy to see through. Medium sour taste that is semi salty. Very light body with a thin texture with average carbonation with long, bitter finish. Overall a good beer that seems to have a lot of flavors that jump out with a lasting aftertaste. Would definitely have again.

Lots of light delicate flavors. None are overpowering. Delicate fruity honey sweetness with a slightly bitter finish. Notes of resin and potpourri. Toasted puffed rice. Nice, but tastes a bit too precious.
