Pours black with a tan/brown head that fades rather fast. Coffee and more coffee, hints of chocolate. Fairly bitter with a dry finish. Nice stout, I was surprised by the low abv.

Had this at the Dogfish Head Ale house in MD, but only as part of a black and tan (this & 90 min). The B&T was awesome, and poured well, so I feel I can comment on the stout. Hard to judge the head, but had a smooth mouth feel and great balanced, smokey-coffee taste.

The mexican coffee makes this brew. Dogfish continues to impress me with their balance of flavors. They are creating a class of their own. Steady head, great taste, lasting impression, buy more Dogfish.

Nice dark color its a stout of couse quick fading head no lacing in the glass. Quick taste of smoke at first that faded away. Solid stout nice taste of roasted malts perhaps some of the coffee beans they say is there. Want to like this more but its just another notch on the beer belt a solid offering at that and thas ok. Expectations met.

12oz bottle. Roasted grain aroma, must be chicory, with a slight sour note resting just underneath. Some smoke and alcohol too. Moderately sweet in a very watered down molasses way, a sour/hop bite to mostly clean the mouth but some sweetness lingers. Yay beer!

Bottle: Pours a dark chocolate colte color with a thin tan head. Smells of roasted malts, coffee, and nuts. Tastes of rich coffee with a hint of chocolate. Very smooth and leaves that palate with a sensory overload. Very nice, well crafted brew.

The aroma is of chocolate and coffee. This beer pours with a half inch head that quickly dissipates. The beer is a blackhole that draws you in to see what it is really made of. The flavor is fairly smooth with roasted coffee flavor and roasted malt. There is an aftertaste of coffee as well that doesnít seem to stick around too long. There is no hop flavor, but this beer is balanced. This beer is medium-bodied and seems a touch over-carbonated for me. A good stout, I would say a characteristic dry stout if not for the additives.

Overall good stout. Not quite as strong in flavor as most stouts, but that is not a bad thing in this case. The flavor is there and very good. The aroma is fantastic and made me laugh out loud (in joy). Nothing special about the mouthfeel and the carbonation was ok. The head was almost non-existent but was dark. Good beer. One of Dogfish Heads better brews.

I expected more from this beer, but I still enjoyed it. Nice rich aroma! The flavors of this bad boy are pretty interesting, but I was hoping for a more "earthy" flavor in line with the chicory-brewed hot drinks Iíve had on camping trips. Just the same, try it.
