EBF 2015.

Pours a deep almost black with a deep tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, maybe some light salty notes…but could just be in my head. Light chocolate and caramel notes. Some toasted malt. Flavor of chocolate and roasted malt, on the thin side. Maybe some hints of saltiness.

GABF 2014. Those poor lobsters; what a waste. Heavily roasted malt and I actually taste shellfish if not so much lobster. The shellfish compliments the porter nicely, almost like an oyster stout. Some chocolate and some light spice.

GABF 2014. Black color with a small head. Roasty aroma. Oddly shellfishy flavor. Some roast and chocolate notes. Lightly tart.

Very random. Tastes just like you would imagine - fermented lobster tank water. Black with OK head and lacing. Smells like the sea a little but not necessarily like lobster. Light bitter finish. Tap at Rehoboth Beach brewpub.

Dark pour, smallish head. Pleasant sweet aroma. Lots of roast, basil definitely detectable. Salty and funky aftertaste. Dry on the tongue. Not sure I would’ve guessed "lobster, but hey, whatever. It’s different and if that is worth something to you, then go for it.

Gotta say compared to other dogfish brews I was disappointed. The saltyness gave a sort of briny feel to this, but in general the chocolate flavors were weak and I didn’t get the flavor I was wanting. The bitterness and Umame sort of flavors one expects from the style were there but none of the dogfish head kinks made it anything but average

Sample at GABF. Dark pour by Sam himself. Very salty and herbal with a nice malt backbone. It’s very unique and something quite special. Like an oyster stout there is a earthy, dirty, salty, and gritty flavor to it that make it special and nice. Really good.
