3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
GABF 2014. Those poor lobsters; what a waste. Heavily roasted malt and I actually taste shellfish if not so much lobster. The shellfish compliments the porter nicely, almost like an oyster stout. Some chocolate and some light spice.

GABF 2014. Black color with a small head. Roasty aroma. Oddly shellfishy flavor. Some roast and chocolate notes. Lightly tart.

Very random. Tastes just like you would imagine - fermented lobster tank water. Black with OK head and lacing. Smells like the sea a little but not necessarily like lobster. Light bitter finish. Tap at Rehoboth Beach brewpub.

Dark pour, smallish head. Pleasant sweet aroma. Lots of roast, basil definitely detectable. Salty and funky aftertaste. Dry on the tongue. Not sure I wouldíve guessed "lobster, but hey, whatever. Itís different and if that is worth something to you, then go for it.

Gotta say compared to other dogfish brews I was disappointed.
The saltyness gave a sort of briny feel to this, but in general the chocolate flavors were weak and I didnít get the flavor I was wanting. The bitterness and Umame sort of flavors one expects from the style were there but none of the dogfish head kinks made it anything but average

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at GABF. Dark pour by Sam himself. Very salty and herbal with a nice malt backbone. Itís very unique and something quite special. Like an oyster stout there is a earthy, dirty, salty, and gritty flavor to it that make it special and nice. Really good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at GABF 2013. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma is exactly what it says on the tin.. Lobster, smell of the sea, seaweed, dark chocolate, roast and a vegetal note. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, light to moderate salty. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample @ GABF 13, handed by Sam himself. Pours a dark brown beer with a medium sized, beige head. Aroma has lobster in it strangely enough. Also some chocolate and floral notes in there. Flavour has some saltyness to it. Lobster is not shining trough. Quite a watery mouthfeel, big chocolate notes in it. Decent brew for sure.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 Thanks to Bill for sharing this DFH rarity. This is wicked hodd ta get.
The beer is black with an inch of head. The aroma is roast and chocolate, relatively mild. Additional scents of salt and light spice. This must be the lobster. The flavor is nice. Sea salt and chocolate with a dry finish. Some Irish stout character. Interesting beer.
