750 mL bottle. Pours a clear darker shade of amber with a white head. Sweet raspberry aroma that hints at the high alcohol content. Flavor is very sweet with the strawberry, some caramel, alcohol is surprisingly restrained. Kind of wine-like with the raspberry flavors tending a bit toward darker fruit. I’m quite enjoying it, though I’m still sober enough to say that 12 oz bottles would be much more appropriate for this beer. Ask me again in half an hour, though.

On tap at the RHB Brewpub. Pours a rich blood orange amber brown color with an oil slick surface. Will kick up a white foam head. Aroma of champagne grape, raspberry, and earthiness. Sweet grape, raspberry taste with a perfect bitter layer and champagne grape like notes. Booze is amazingly hidden. A medium carbonated mouthfeel. I don’t like fruit beers but I like this.

Poured to an oversized wine glass. 2011 vintage. Pours on the redish side of orange, a vigorous pour pulled a one finger head that was gone in a hurry. Nice spotty lacing. nose is big and boozy, I get burnt sugar raspberries and tropical fruit. Big alcohol burn dominates the nose. The raspberries is up front in the taste but is still overshadowed by the high alcohol, aside from that I get burnt sugar and toffee reminiscent of a barleywine. Mouthfeel is super sticky, big body, and medium-low carbonation. This is my third time trying this beer. The first time was in my second month of craft beer and I thought it had gone bad and poured it down the drain, the second time it was four years old and fucking delicious, this time it was fresh and I have to say this is a beer that needs aging to meet its full potential. At 4 years I’d give it a 4.2.

11.15.2011 (My first kid’s one year birthday, random fact on the bottle date.) Pours a raspberry color that is a bit diluted and a nice foamy head. I REALLY wanted to like this but in the end the alcohol was just overpowering. Aroma is sweet and raspberry with some alcohol but the taste is straight up desert wine with some boxed wine. Sweet beyond belief and just bad.

Bottle/750ml - Pours a a hazy reddish orange-amber in color with almost no head and very little carbonation. A fair amount of "stuff" on the bottom of the bottle. Aroma is a heady mix of tart raspberries, sweet malts and (not surprisingly) lots of alcohol. Flavor is a bit wine-like with the tartness of the raspberries cutting through the sweetness of the malts. The alcohol is a dominant characteristic and provides not only a warming as it goes down, but also detracts from the otherwise pleasant raspberry flavors. I think that this would have been a much better beer without the extremely high ABV, in my opinion. Did not enjoy this as much as I wanted to...

Pours a clear copper, with a frothy off -white head. Aroma is dry, with notes of fruit and raspberries. Flavor is very sweet with raspberries and loads of malt upfront, and alcohol dominating the base and finish. Very warming and a mild berry alcohol lingers

Bottle. Clear orange beer with a medium off-white head. Aroma of raspberries, malt, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, with almost nothing but raspberries and alcohol, liqueur-like, but I find it surprisingly drinkable all things considered. Sweet alcoholic finish. Full bodied, syrupy, with soft-moderate carbonation. I like it.

Pour is a cloudy orange color with a small white head. Nose is of raspberries, and perhaps a little wine character. Taste is raspberry with a little port wine like ending with a bit if a wine like ending. nice carbonation with a sweet finish, leaves an interesting coat on the tongue.
