3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 madsberg (7569) - Søborg, DENMARK - MAR 6, 2006
Bottled @ 3 tastings (Grote Dorst, Cantillon and ZBF) 3 days in a row: Orange coloured. Unclear. Small off white head. Raspberry nose. Sweetness and alcohol is present. Flavour is surprisingly balanced. DFH does a outstanding job hiding the alcohol. I wouldn’t have guessed that there were 18% in this. Fruits, sweetness and some spices are noteable. Is very warming in the end, and the alcohol bites a little on lips and palate. Fun beer.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7532) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 20, 2006
Bottle... Hazy, orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Big, malty, fruity aroma with lots of sweet, tart berries and just a whisper of alcohol. The flavor is lightly fruity and moderately boozy and bitter. Fairly tart. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with medium carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet, lightly tart and very dry. This bad boy might need a year or so of cellaring to cool down a bit. Right now, it’s red hot! Thanks go out to Lou18 for the bottle. I think I’m gonna get drunk tonight! ... should’ve invited someone over to share the 750ml bottle with me.

Bottle. Poured reddish amber with a large off-white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Good friut and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with medium sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol burn. This beer did not meet my expectations.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2010
A Sim rate (on tap at Cambridge Common EBF afterparty): Everyone at the table kept ordering this beer and wondering why it never turned up but forks kept appearing at the table. Then Todd clocked what was happening and went up to the waitress, "Um, we’ve been trying to order the Dogfish Head Fort and we keep getting forks". "Ooooooooh". From then on, no one could get a fork :) Anyway, on to the beer - Smells delightfully fruity: blueberry, cherry, raspberry, cranberry. You can smell the alcohol, but it’s not overpowering. Slightly reddish golden brown colour that looks great. Again, the flavour is super-fruity and although it’s an alcoholic hit, it’s not overpowered and the fruit shines through. Sweet grenadine with a hit of cranberry. Sweet & sour. Nice, tingly palate.

Bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis (thanks!). Bottled in 11/05. Poured a deeper orange / amber color with a smaller sized head (not what I expected from a Raspberry beer). Aromas of raspberries and a light bready / doughiness. Tastes of sweet raspberries and dough. Light alcohol, but no where near the 18%. Overall this was a good Raspberry beer, but I would like to have seen a tartness to balance out the sweetness.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 13, 2009
A golden amber ale with a thin white head, and speckles of raspberry seeds. In aroma, raspberry puree, menthol and cardboard. In mouth, a rather strange mentolated fruity ale, with notes of sweet corn and wheat malt, light alcohol warmth. Medium bodied. Didnt like this very much. Tasted Nov. 2008

First off, thank to BeerPrince for this generous gift. Hazy pale pink beer with a thin white slick over the surface. Big tart raspberry aroma, some other blackberryish, apple and charry notes behind the dominant raspberry. Flavour is way too boozy though. Sweet raspberrys on the front but a very peppery, ethanolic middle. Gets really hot as the temperature comes up a bit. Slightly lactic but the beer needs a whole lot more body to stand up to all the alcohol. With some darker malts in here this could be awesome, but right now it’s a bit too much.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2006 Rerate, 750ml bottle sampled on 9/16/06: Pours a copper orange ruby with a thin wispy white head. Aroma boasts some sweet sugary caramel and honey with a touch of fruity raspberries. Body starts with a lot of sticky sugary sweetness, but not necessarily malt derived. Has a lot of honey character and plenty of alcohol with mild fruitiness in the finish. An interesting concoction and would be really good if it were intended to be 10% and not so over the top.
Served at the 2005 EBF through a fruit Randall: Pours a copper orange ruby with very little head. Sweet caramel fruity raspberry and strawberry aroma with a yeasty character identical to 120 Minute IPA and WWS. Starts lightly sweet and fruity with a tart raspberry finish that hides the alcohol well. The fruit flavor could be a little more pronounced so that this isn’t as bland. Otherwise another interesting and enjoyable brew from DFH.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JorisPPattyn (6729) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 4, 2006
Clear orange-amber; small pinkish-amber head, rather stable. Very fruity nose with direct alcohol punch. Cheap brandy, smoked wood, solvent. Sweet, almondy, rosewater, peach, raspberry, alcohol-sweet, caramel and toffee: a plenitude of tastes tumbling together, slowly blending into precarious balance. Very much alcoholburn, slick, oily nearly buttery. Very good beer - in fact, the only minuspoint I know is the too obvious alcoholstreak. Still, these are right royal raspberries.

Bottled - LCRBM2 - A light amber coloured beer with off-white bubbles. The aroma is subdued fruits, seemingly strawberries. The taste is strong alcohol and more fruitiness - again seems like strawberry. The flavours are not totally at ease with the alcohol and it’s gimmicky at this strength. However it id drinkable and doesn’t seem like 18%. I’d drink it again.
