Taster at the brewery, No head, or lacing, minimal aroma, strong raspberry notes and boozy finish... Wow... Impressive... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Large format bottle split with family. One of Dogfish Head’s best beers, does not taste like an 18% beer at all.

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2014 750 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse. 2008 vintage, aged intentionally to allow it to mellow out. Pours a hazy red color with no head. Aroma of tart berries, earth, booze. The taste is berries, citrus, earth, honey, prickly booze. Medium-full bodied, fairly hot still, low carbonation, almost mead-like. Pretty solid and it seems like it’s held up well. 100th Delaware rating!

Pours a lovely hazy amber with small white head. Has a very sweet aroma of raspberries and malt. Definitely taste the raspberries up front followed by a very sweet malt taste and alcohol. Leaves a lingering sweet taste at the end.

750ml bottle, 2011 vintage. Big thanks to caterwaul for sharing this one. Clear orange color. Thin off-white head. Good lace. A very impressive appearance, especially for an 18% beer. Raspberry, some light rubbing alcohol in the nose. Light yogurt. Bigger body, but a more dry finish. Very light carbonation. Lightly sticky. Great raspberry, light spice. Some very light vinous notes. Big warmth, some alcohol, but not nearly as much alcohol taste as you’d expect from 18%. Little to no burn nor bite. Moderate sweet, but not at all cloying. Awesome raspberry jam flavor. Light jolly rancher. Very impressive big beer to sip on. Maybe a slightly more intense raspberry flavor would have been cool, like kuhnhenn raspberry eisbock, but this on the other hand hides the alcohol better and is less cloying sweet. Awesome big fruit beer to sip on.

2008 bottle. Huge berry nose, raspberries and booze, rather wine-like. Jammy raspberry falvor, booze, great, huge, fruit, big booze to balance. A bit tangy, some bitterness. Lovely stuff. Has really aged well.

Light amber color. Massively intense raspberries jump from the nose. Massive intense mouth with tons of raspberries. Moderately sweet and boozy, but for the ABV it is so impressive. Wow. Interesting stuff but definitely a sipper.

(Cuvée 2008): Ouvert après 5 ans et la framboise envahie la terrasse, j’ose pas imaginer fraîche. Le corps est semblable à un porto avec une carbonatation docile et soignée en extra. Je suis agréablement surpris par celle-là.

Bottle shared with the misses. Per some recommedations and reading reviews, I laid this down for a two years before popping it. Pours an pinkish/orange color with a decent head given the abv, but still the off white head doesn’t last. Smell is fruity, raspberries, big sweet light maltiness, maripan perhaps. Taste is big boozy, syrupy, raspberries, honey. Almost like a super big fruited malt likka. Ok, but it is certainly a must share. Not sure I expected much more from an 18% brew, but it was certainly a fun try.

2005 bottle at Brewdown. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Nose and taste of raspberry jam, alcohol and honey. Full body. Too much alcohol.
