3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lowe1983 (1246) - Dayton, USA - MAY 16, 2007
Pours an amber color with a ruby hint and an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel, raspberries, sweet malts, and plenty of alcohol. Flavor starts off with the raspberry that gives way to the sweeter tones of the malts and caramel. Finishes with lots of alcohol warming. Good thing I didn’t buy this bottle.

A - Pours a clear copper-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of strong raspberries, booze, a bit of Belgian yeast and some floral elements.
T - Starts off with some strong sweet raspberry flavor with some tartness. Through the middle, some booze comes through with some floral flavors. The finish is a mix of more sweet and lightly tart raspberries with some booze and a bit vanilla and yeast.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish.
D - Pretty drinkable. A bit one dimensional, but the strength and complexity of the raspberry flavor is really nice.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 DiarmaidBHK (1528) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 26, 2012
2009 version on draft at Meking. Pours with a reddish tint and an inch of thick white foam. Big raspberry and strawberry notes on the nose. I think you could get drunk just off of the fumes. Nice muted fruit notes on the tongue. It’s hard to believe it’s18% at this point. The mouthfeel is slick almost slippery. The finish is a bit harsh but by that point who cares! It’s just a flavorful and beautifully balanced beer.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 HopTsing (158) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2012
The goblet came across the bar with a hazy, reddish-coppery colored brew with a thin head. Fruity ,sweet aromas. Full bodied with flavors of raspberry, and malt. I found this brew very interesting, but perhaps a little too sweet. It is very tasty, but not for mass consumption due to the alcohol ABV. It really does kick your ass.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 zgaier (291) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Pours a hazy golden amber with a small, thin head and sweet aroma of raspberries and fruits. Taste is sweet, of heavy raspberries and alcohol, that gives it a sour flavor, with a lingering alcohol finish. Strong, sweet brew from Dogfish, a sipper.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jjgmd (295) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Pours a hazy dark amber. Nose is fruity and sweet. Taste is sour and bitter, almost tannin tasting. Did not agree with my palate. Finish as well bitter, sour and long. I could live without this one. So many better fruit beers out there, despite not being my favorite style. Strongest is not always the best ! Quaff Score 4 / 10

750 ml bottle poured, gorgeous golden red color, bouquet is raspberry with hints of alcohol, flavor is sweet raspberry with alcohol burn, pallette is fresh light and fruity, obviously the raspberry is in the forefront but subtle hop hints... Delicious not an everyday beer for multiple reasons
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ret12 (236) - Maryland, USA - APR 20, 2012
I thought this one was sort of like a thick tart fruit juice, something different from any beer I’ve had, very warming and delicious.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Isidor (16) - - APR 17, 2012
Smells of raspberries and yeast. Pours golden with a thin head. Tastes of raspberries and grapes, maybe a hint of oak. Very refreshing and easy to drink, a bit sweet though.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rodisian (31) - Connecticut, USA - APR 9, 2012
Boozy, raspberry, sweet, and completely met my expectations of an 18% fruit beer. I poured this into 2oz glasses for guests and the reactions ranged the gamut from love to hate. A very good dessert beer in my opinion, however at this cost/size/abv I won’t be purchasing again anytime soon. Fun for the novelty, and I’d take it if offered, but you really need to be in the mood for this one.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dfhhead25 (154) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2012
2011 vintage
Aroma- raspberries and other berries, yeast, funk
Appearance- hazy golden yellowish-orange, thin white head
Taste- big raspberries, blueberries, grapes, booze, oak, some light vanilla
Palate- medium-high carbonation, refreshing mouthfeel
Overall- A bomb of a beer. Very potent and pretty darn drinkable. The only other time I had this was in 2010 and it had nearly 3 years of age on it. I remember it being more balanced with more raspberries, more oak, and more vanilla. This beer would do well to have at least 2 years of cellaring on it.
