wcampbell (365), Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 22, 2008 I knew it would be interesting. Flavor is intense and highly alcoholic. Has a whiskey flavor to it that I did not enjoy. It probably would have been a lot better at around 10% alcohol instead of 18%. Hard to drink, but it tasted better as it warmed and as I got used to it.
pineypower (840), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours out a cloudy reddish hued orange color with a small lively head. Heavy on the carbonation. Aroma is of some sweet malts, raspberry and some alcohol. Taste is raspberry, sweet sticky malts, some light earthy notes also....o and of course the alcohol hits you on the finish also. Definitely interesting JaPe (64), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 25, 2008 Tart rasberry flavor with a beer aftertaste. After its gone you feel carbonation and a slight alchohol flavor. This is nogruit lambic - I don’t feel like the the fruit and beer go together very well. But there is a lot to each sip and I admire the effort. IPAaLLtHEwAY (83), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 22, 2008 Pours somewhere between red-brown-orange. No head really to speak of. The aroma is very boozy, with a mild raspberry shadow. Tastes very vinous to me like a wine on steroids. I had no idea this was 18% when i cracked it.All else aside this is a very animated, high ABV, fruit beer. Everyone outta try it. Rciesla (674), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2008 Bottle. Wow 18% haha DFH at it again. Aroma is sweet fruit raspberries and booziness. Some wood and hops but almost syrup sweet raspberries. Dunno another high abv miss if you ask me. Rotorhead87 (107), Temple, Texas, USA Jun 19, 2008 Pours a slightly reddish brown with no head. Smells of berries and alcohol.
The first thing you notice is how lively the carbonation is, then the raspberries hit you. It has a somewhat dry, alcoholic finish. The initial impression is almost that of a chardonnay. Everything mixes well for a very satisfying drink, definitely something to savor.
