tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Oct 24, 2007 12 ounce bottle from cdog69
Pours clear golden with a thick, sticky white head. Quite a bit of carbonation rising through the beer.
Clean pilsner malt aromas, with a slight noble hop aroma. Sort of a lemon dish soap aroma as well.
Tastes fine. Very malty, close to being sweet. The finish is plenty dry though. Plenty of bitterness. to keep the sweet in check.
The palate comes off a bit syrupy to me. Its not bad, I guess. Not really all that pleasing.
Not something that I’m going to be looking to drink again.
alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head that leaves decent lacing. The aroma is medium sweet malt and grassy floral hops. The flavor was the same medium sweet malt with a good balance of hops. There is also the presence of alcohol which refuses to remain hidden. Not overly bitter especially when tasted next to the Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner. Not my style, but a pretty good example nonetheless. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 19, 2007 aroma is of obvious alcohol with a balance of cereal malt and hops. pours dark gold with a good head that cleaves to the side of the glass. flavor is good... some alcohol, rich cereal maltiness, spicy and grassy hop flavor. medium palate. all in all pretty good, but on raw flavor it doesn’t stack up to other high gravity beers. m andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 17, 2007 bottle. golden to light-amber hue with little creamy white head. aromas of dried fruits, subtle dry hop, and undertones of and salted nuts. it smells fresh. creamy mouthfeel with a lingering bitter finish. smoothness, but mild grassy or pine bark undertones on the flavor. also - slight cream on the palate, and notable lacing on the glass, thick lacing. Gachupines (290), USA Oct 17, 2007 Golden appearance with a decent white head. Flavor is somewhat sweet with noticeable alcohol. Finish is more bitter with a decent hop presence. Fairly enjoyable strong pilsner. Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2007 I was really anxious to try this just because of its name and it was very delightful. A bit of a strong alcohol flavor but i like the warmth Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 15, 2007 Clear, golden orange pour. Leading aroma of tin and wet grass, tickles of mint and lemon sprightliness. Warmth reveals the pungency. Corn starch, burnt white sugar, heat, and browned pear skin. The flavor has a touch of that trashy compost tendency that lends a real grotesque element to more than a few strong lagers. It seems light at first, but actually isn’t, it’s just constructed more of cool mint leaves than dirty grass and dead hop pellets. Alcohol lends a breath of aerosol and fusel, with a kind of old orange juice and vodka vibe. Slick and seemingly chemical-ridden in the mouth, but not especially hot. Finishes with dry hops and hamster cage, a musty noble and distant citrus coating. Vaguely distasteful, though in a quite typical way. jcr (1137), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 15, 2007 Updated: Oct 16, 200712 oz. bottle. Plenty of aromas and flavors in this imperial pilsner, but they don’t seem to blend together. The pour is a clear, light amber with a small white head. The nose is lemon, grass and sweet malt and breadiness. Notes of hops, mostly orange. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter in the finish. The alcohol is clearly present in the finish, warming and liquor-like. Thin to medium body and watery texture. The malts and hops seem divorced from each other rather than complimenting each other.
