theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA Sep 21, 2007 The imperial pils what have no name. I guess its more appetizing than golden shower. Golden yellow, small white head that fades quickly. Crystal clear, bubbly. I find the aroma quite invited. Noble, clean hoppy aroma. Sweet sticky mouthfeel and very bitter. Very clean and lagerlike, tastes like a pils but bigger. Its good, probably a second to only Sam Adams ’05 among imperial pils. A distant, distant, barely the same style not even in the same league second, but second nonetheless. Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2007 Deep golden and clear, generously thick head and great lacing. Aroma is grassy, some citrus. Medium body, sweet malts, some grassy/peppery hop towards the end and the finish was sticky with lingering sweetness. Glad they altered the name since the last time I tried it (as Golden Shower) joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2007 appearance is golden with a slight head with decent carbonation and a transparent view. the nose is malty like a pilsner with a hint of alcohol. the flavor has much more of a hop character than any pilsner i have ever had and i honestly would think this were a member of the style if it didn’t say so on the bottle. besides the alteration of the style the beer is good, with a strong flavor of alcohol and hops with still some malt character to finish michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2007 12oz. Bottle: Very sweet aroma. Smells of floral hops, candy sugar, baby powder, and some sweet malts.
Poured golden in color with a small white head that diminished. Clear. Very lightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of sweet malts, Brussels sprouts, hops, bubble gum, and herbs. Medium body. Average texture. Soft to average carbonation. Floral, lightly bitter, herbal finish. 9%ABV is well hidden. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2007 Bottle. Pour is an orangish amber color with a medium sized head that dies down quickly and leaves a bit of lacing and a few bubbles rising of the etching on the bottom of my glass. Aromas are of citrus and floral hops, grass and a little bit of sweetness. Flavor and mouthfeel are balanced differently than most beers I’ve had. There is a bitter and grassy beginning that then transforms into a bit of a sweet finish and aftertaste that is reminiscent of white grape juice. Alcohol is present right from the start... it provides warmth and a bit of an astringent lead before the sweetness as it finishes. As I work my way through this glass, I find that the hops is taking over the aftertaste. I’m not sure whether I missed it at first (doubtful), the beer has changed texture a little as it has aired and warmed (plausible) or the hops presence has contamintated my ability to hold on to that sweetness (probable). Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2007 Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of grass, citrus, caramel, and floral hops. Flavor starts off sweet with hints of caramel and sweet malts. Finishes with the citrus and floral hops. Finish is slightly bitter and dry. I don’t get much of an alcohol warming even though it’s 9%. Much better then what I was expecting. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2007 2007...Clear yellow golden hue with small creamy white lasting head, good lacing, sweet and hoppy nose, grassy taste, slight hop taste, distinctive malt, apricot tang sweet almost caramel aftertaste, not as stong as 9% would indicate but after a few you can feel it in your head, overall very smooth. I looked for this for months and it did not disappoint this is up there with Dogfish Head’s best. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Sep 17, 2007 Bottle labeled Golden Era (2007). Pours hazy gold, white head. Aroma is kiwi, citrus, grass, apricot. Flavor is drier and more bitter than the aroma lets on and is a definite plus for me. I detect hops, peanuts, grass, slight caramel.
