-A ring of foam surrounds the clear copper tinge.
-Biscuity malts and honey sweetness send a sugar-rich message to the nostrils.
-Silky honey develops into toffee in the goal of pleasing sweet teeth.
-The abundance of pils maltiness, coupled with sparse but lively carbonation, produces a slick, clean mouthfeel.
What if you dig deeper?
-Some peppery, herbal hop bitterness attemps to dry out the back end, but doesn’t completely achieve its goal.
-Some citrusy fruitiness is found in the distance.
-Alcohol, as in most DFH products, is efficiently hidden.
-This remains a very smooth, clean strong lager, but if you don’t have a sweet tooth, you probably won’t enjoy it that much.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 8, 2006 750ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a moderate white head. Medium body and fine carbonation. The aroma is lightly sweet with oranges and flowers. The taste is sweet as well, with a little bitterness. I’m not picking up any sort of pils heritage other than a bit of the hops. bu11zeye (5433), Frisco, Texas, USA

Sampled from a 25.6 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very bright golden color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma is strong floral, fruity and piney hops with a sweet earthy undertone. The flavor is caramel, butterscotch and strong fruity hops. The beer is well rounded, rich, complex and interesting. RollinHard (756), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2006 Been wanting to have this for a while. Pours a clear golden orange color, with a decent size head, with decent lacing as well. Aroma is great. It’s certainly hoppy and sweet, but there’s a spicy tartness to the sugary malt, and the hop aroma is very floral. Taste is sweet and caramelly upfront, with some dry and bread qualities coming through. Finishes with a dry, herbal, floral hop flavor that taste great with minimal bitterness. The finish lingers a long time, but in a pleasant way. The beer has a good body, but it’s not too thick and the carbonation makes the beer a little tangier. The cloying quality that most Dogfish Head beers have is in decent moderation. I see why some people don’t think this beer is fulfilling its style correctly, but I still think it’s really good anyway. Palidor19 (1762), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 1, 2006 The aroma bubble gum, citrus, caramel, and malt. The appearance is gold-orange with a small head. The flavor is nice with butterscotch, malt, caramel, and citrus hops. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s nice but it’s got to much alcohol presents. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2006 Pours like a champ with a thick, creamy head that laces big. Deepest amber with a steady stream of tiny bubbles. Hits the mouth hard with bitterness, then alcohol. Butterscotch candy, toffee, some creaminess, then not much else. Lacks complexity and hoppiness. Could not detect the dry hopping. Sweet. Agree that it would benefit from some crispness.
