pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 8, 2006 Bottle: Clear gold with a stiff, bubbly white head and spotty lacing. Mildly spicy aroma of balanced malts and hops along with alcohol and a clean air scent. The dry hop can be picked up as well as the high alcohol content in the taste. The feel is almost thick or syrupy leaving a nice aftertaste of semi-sweet hoppiness in your mouth. A great brew thanks to Indiana Red! IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 8, 2006 750ml Bottle pours a slighty hazy very light orange. Small but persistant white head and lacing. Aroma is if peach, apricot, honey, and some orange. Not much in the way of hops. Flavor is mild malty swetness, some of the fruity notes also and a fairly sweet honey like slant. ABV is strong but not to obvious for 9%. The bitterness that was lacking earlier, shows up late with a nice little bite at the end. Mild to soft carbonation and some alcohol fumes the creep up on you. Best Ive had of a style that I am wary of. Recieved this in a trade a while back from a forgotten but not unappreciated RBer. Thanks ! mctous (119), Herndon, Virginia, USA Oct 7, 2006 The noble hops ring true, both in aroma and flavor, but Dogfish has not brewed the malt to the appropriate dryness. The palate is clean but somewhat sweet. Too dark and too sweet to be an ideal imperial pilsner, Dogfish Golden Shower is a near miss, not a total disappointment. Our local Dominion Spring Brew better exemplifies this style. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 4, 2006 Clear gold pour with a creamy white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is very nice. Malt is prominant but there is some hop balance. Sticky resiny hops. Tons of lacing. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 2, 2006 This bottled brew from a bottle shop int Indianapolis poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that was mostly lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated light orange brown colored body. The mild pale ale like aroma was hoppy. The strongly vinous mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. It was very smooth but very vinous for a Pilsener. The yummy hoppy flavor was reminiscent of an IPA. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Sep 24, 2006 Aroma: spicy saaz, earthy german hops, mushrooms and caramel. Surprisingly dark for a pils. Taste is a strong saaz kick, complex and tasty, with a strong balance of pretty typical amber malts. Thick and not very effervescent. Doesn’t really come across as a pils much at all, more similar almost to Houblon Chouffe certainly than Sam Adams IP (which, to me, really befit its name). Really too malty for a pils, imperial or not. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 19, 2006 3/21/06 bottle (3/4L). Clear amber with an off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma like a chess pie--vanilla, butterscotch, macadamia nut, also some honeysuckle, dandelion, cheesy yeast and a bit of alcohol. Sweet caramel malt flavor with noticeble alcohol up front, and spicy hops all through. Light to medium palate, not the buttery body I was hoping for but thinner. Spicy hop finish with some alcohol warmth. Could perhaps of aged this a little to mellow it out. Slightly sour but mostly bitter aftertaste. Fairly good, but not the outstanding specimen I’d hoped for from DH. For the price, there are much better things out there and in greater quantities. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 18, 2006 750 ml bottle. The name fits ’cause this pours exactly like cat pee. Well... maybe not exactly. Hop notes are much more muted than expected. Perhaps this is due to the tremendous amount of sweet caramel and butterscotch malts that overshadow them. Decent but probably not worth the price.
