Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2006 Pours a slightly orange but mostly golden color with a thick and fluffy white head. Lots and lots of lacing. Little bit of orange in the nose along with fresh flowers. Noticeable hop presence with a very big malt backing. I’m really not huge on the idea of Imperial Pilsener but this is not a bad beer. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Sep 15, 2006 Bottle on 9/12. Clear gold under a big white head and excellent lace for a beautful and inviting appearance. Honey and floral notes dominate the aroma. Medium body with a rich mouthfeel that is every so slightly resinous. The flavor is initially sweet with toffee and light caramel that is offset by a citrusy bitterness. There is also some alcohol noticeable. cbkschubert (1940), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Sep 11, 2006 750 ml bottle - Pours a clear deep golden color with a nice fluffy off white head. As the head slowly settles, it leaves some nice lacing. Has a sweet toffee like aroma. Whoa, flavor is a little sweet. Flavor is mostly malt. Nice bitterness, just not alot of hop flavor. Medium body. Worth a try. I only wish I had opened this bottle with some friends instead of by myself. Oh well. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Sep 10, 2006 A beer at kps I reallly looked forward to trying. I wasn’t disappointed. A sweet malty papery aroma typical of a pilsner. A nice flavor of sweet that almost overcomes the paper taste. A slight hint of alochol and a slight bitter finish. A nice beer. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Sep 8, 2006 Honey body with a quickly fading foamy head. Nose-very strong sweet pilsner smell. Taste-not at all what I expected. Cinnamon, artificial sweetener, corn syrup, light honey, medium bitterness, corn flakes. Very sweet and cloying. The sweetness coats my mouth and takes over. I like all the flavors, but the sweetness is just too overwhelming. It is like drinking a very well done pilsner with a shitload of corn syrup poured into it. Loses points on the palate because it is like drinking honey. jsquire (2078), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2006 Deep golden color out of the big bottle with a cream colored head that left sheets of attractive lace. Strong honey syrup nose with resin hops. Caramel sweetness with lots of syrup and an almost Belgian sugar sweetness. Lots of pine, candied grapefruit and orange hop flavors. Definitely a sipping beer. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Sep 6, 2006 Bottle and bottled on 3/22/06. Large moderatley fizzy ivory head that was mostly lasting, fair lacing, transparent, carbonation, and a golden orange hue. Sweet malty, hoppy, fresh and crisp nose. Flavor was sweet, malty, some caramel, hops, sugary and a fresh, crisp taste. Smooth palate. Light-medium body. Sammy (3922), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 2, 2006 This is essentially a more hopped pilsner and a lot of malting. You get the bitterness in the finish, the malt up front. To the European I shared with, it certainly was not a pilsner. My notes show I did not think as much of this as the Samuel Adams in this style. It was still a good way to kick back a summer day on a long weekend, with the alcohol kick setting up a very long nap. Body and medium plus mouthfeel.
