Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jun 14, 2006 750 ml bottle. Pours gold with a beautiful, puffy head. A really good looking beer. Aroma is a nice mix of spicy hops and grainy malts, really fresh. Taste is sweet and tripel-like. Texture is gummy with some palate cleansing carbonation. You get the big alcohol bite, which makes me think I could have sat on it for a few more months. I wouldnt mind seeing this in a 12 oz bottle, as this 750 is gonna try to kick my ass. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jun 13, 2006 Well, this beer was really good. But then I threw it up all over. This beer has a nice body and a nice hoppiness to it, but I don’t recommend mixing it with whiskey. crazyvin (1245), New York, USA Jun 12, 2006 seemed rather mild initally. Had a golden hue too it with almost no head. Some carbonation. Aroma with sweet with honey notes and floral hops, alcohol was present. Taste was sweet but not over powering. Some hops but a nice warming finsh.
eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Poured a clear golden color with steady carbonation bubbling action. Nice initial head and decent lacing. The aroma was sweet with light honey and very light grass relative to the style. The flavor was sweet pils malts with very light metallic and sulfur notes. Bittering hops used (Saaz and some other noble: Hallertau?) to balance out the sweet and rich maltiness. After warming, some sort of a yeast originating spice seemed to be lurking in the background - couldn’t quite place it. Mouthfeel was hearty and slightly syrup-like, but not cloying or overdone, farily decent balance. Not the top of the Impy Pilsners, but a good example of the style. thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jun 11, 2006 Pours deep amber into a lager glass. Consistant white micro head. Honey aromas. Sweet honey with minor hop finish. Got more hoppy as it warmed, but not sure how it’s a pilsner, Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2006 A clear, maize yellow body. Deeper, darker, more substantial than your typical pilsener. But that’s the point, right? The nose is classic DFH, overly hopped and dry hopped. The body is thick and nearly sticky. The sweetness balances well with the bitter hops. But, I am left to question, where is the crisp, straightforward pilsener flavor? This is deeper but not necessarily superior to a classic pils. Still, a solid "off-centered" version of a classic. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Jun 11, 2006 I shared this one with some co-workers. They didn’t like it.
I, on the other hand thought it was pretty decent. I was quite surprised at the nearly non-existent nose mand even more surprised at how thick, sticky, and sweet this was. There is some sweet caramleish flavours but mostly fruity, like really ripe McIntosh apples. I could barely perceive any hop flavour, but certianly got the slight hit of bitter in it. mookieguy (17), USA Jun 10, 2006 Bottle. was suprised by this one. not bad at all. hoppy, bitter, yet smooth.
