Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA May 17, 2006 Updated: Nov 20, 2007Big bottle for my birthday. Stark golden brown, lightly active with a nice head. A robust aroma of malt and sugar. The beer drinks smoothly, like silk. Wonderful big flavors come through ... and in a way that I think even some casual light beer drinkers might appreciate. Malt to be sure, but smooth syrupy fruits with a hop oil basis. This is an immensely wonderful beer. biggcb (459), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2006 Bottle. Light gold color. Medium head. Aroma is grainy, fruity and slightly sweet. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are spicy and a touch of grapefruit. Very smooth taste. Creamy and nearly buttery. A really nice pilsner. Hides the 9% alcohol extremely well. Surprised that it’s 9% ABV. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky, but good. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. ruggedman (613), Portland, Maine, USA May 15, 2006 Now that’s a lager! This is a delicious beer, tastes similar to 90min/120min/burton baton. I’d be inclined to call it a 105min baton. :) Mildly sweet, but very nice hop flavors make this beer great. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 15, 2006 Clear golden body, medium foamy tan head. Strong saaz and toasted caramel aroma. Nice dry-hopped flavor - starts with mango / peach sweet fruitiness, then some toasty caramel, all wrapped up with leafy, orange peel saaz hops. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 15, 2006 Clear amber body. Nice full off-white creamy head with nice lacing. Grassy caramel aroma with some nice citrus adjunct. Pretty clean hoppy aroma, reminiscent of Burton Baton. Flavor.. "y tu". Slight liquory schnaps thing going on too. Smooth and creamy. Very good. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA May 15, 2006 glowing off light orange color huge fluffy off white head w/ some nice visable carbonation. A nice even barely recognisable as a pilsner smelling beer. malt is the dominant aroma some bret notes some vanilla and a sweet malt on top of a light grass hop. Palate is well done good size and thickness lightly creamy. Flavor is ab it odd an off sweet w/ a hot hop on the tongue that just doesn’t seem well matched together, lacks a nice smooth blend. Some hints of vanilla and honey in the finish more bread notes. I was fairly unimpressed. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA May 14, 2006 Pour was a clean golden/copper color with a huge three finger merangue-like head. Some mild hops in the aroma but mostly sweet malts. The malts over power the hops the whole way through the tase but just a litttle. Flavors are like a sweet lemon/orangy sugar-cookie. Good beer but not the hop masterpiece I was hoping for. jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA May 14, 2006 Clear fiery copper (not golden) with a thick off-white head. Aroma is much more subdued than I expected; some grass, herbs and vanilla. Flavor starts off with sweet pale malt, a tinge of caramel then gives way to notes noble hops (herbs, grass, lemon zest), apricot, orange peel and a little vanilla. Kind of like a double IPA done with noble hops. Alcohol content very well hidden, lasting bitter finish - plenty of hops in this one. Smooth body, creamy texture and fine, soft-beaded carbonation. Good head retention. Nice beer but it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be.
