3.28.2006 bottling date. Clear amber with a frothy off white head, nice lacing. Big malty white bread yeast, oxidized aroma. Medium body. Lots of yeasty white bread in the flavor, along with some heavy pale malts. The alcohol is noticeable but doesn’t get in the way. Pretty good for a two plus year old lager.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2008 750ML Bottle from Ibrew2or3. (2006) Orange/yellow in color. Malty aroma. Taste very sweet. Malt backbone mild amount of hops. For a lager it was very easy to drink. Mild amount of carbonation. Overall another solid beer by DFH!

Pours a deep orange-golden. Perfumey floral aroma, sweet malt. Very malty foundation, sweet, generously hopped to deliver complex floral aromatics. Finish is long and bitter. Delicious!

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2009 750 ml. bottled on 0306. Syrupy concentrated aroma. Oranged hue, lasting head, good lacing. Probably much more hop presence 2 years ago, more barley wine character with leafy hops providing depth. Thicker and heavier than any pilsner I’ve had. 2007 bottle - clear gold, thick strong white head. Biscuity doughy aroma, lighter stemmy hops on the nose. Floral with rosehips, coats the mouth a bit with some honey. Peppery spice in the finish, cruncy dry hops late in the finish.

12 oz bottle from Secret Santa (sprinkle). Pours a 18k gold color with a big white head that has good retention. The aroma is moderate in strength with dry biscuit, corn and hops. The flavor was complex with malts, musty fruit, spices and hops. The mouthfeel is full and smooth with lively carbonation. The finish is long with lingering sweet corn. Overall: A very fine beer, but the alcohol makes itself known, this is too strong for me to drink every day.

Pours a beautiful clear yellow. Darker than your average Pilsener and with next to no head. Aroma is super-pungent Noble hops; a very beautiful thing. Very clean tasting. Pretty much exactly what you would expect an imperial pilsener to taste like. There was no surprise on this one, unlike most Dogfish Heads for me the first time. Was somewhat disappointed. On the plus side, great aroma and balance. Just not exciting to me.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear yellow gold with fluffy white head. Aroma is hops and citrus and some light fruits. Flavor is hoppy with light malts and some lemon. Alcohol comes thriygh a little at end. Drinkablility is limited by alcohol but would like all of my pilsners to be imperialized for now on.

bottle. creamy off-white (mostly dissapating) head into clear golden body with decent lacing present. aromas of strong hops (perfumey and citrus) and moderate malts (caramel). flavor is initially light bittersweet and finishes a strong bitter. slight alcohol warming (but hidden well). sticky dry mouthfeel. long long long lasting finish duration. lively carbonation. very powerful but good european strong.
