Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2008 Pours a more gold than yellow color with a thick white head that looks like it can hold something up. Nose is slightly hoppy. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous with bitterness throughout. Enjoyed the feel of the beer but was not in love with the flavor. The hops took over. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Apr 12, 2008 bottle. pours a deep golden color with a thick white head... aromas of slight floral hops... nice overall palate and mild hops on the finish... not that unique, but quite nice. The 9% does not make itself known that much... in terms of the imperial pilsner category, it ranks quite well.... not worth the price though. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Aug 30, 2008Darker shade of gold, slightly hazy with nice head and lacing. Fruity and floral in the aroma with hops and a touch of malt. Mild malty flavor followed by a pretty big spicy, fruity, hop bite. Grapefruit and oranges are the fruits that come to mind. Somewhat tangy finish but overall the flavors balance extremely well. There’s a lot of flavor and enough complexity to this while being very refreshing to make it a good beer. Unfortunately it is expensive and only brewed every once in a while. If you see it I definitely recommend giving it a try DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Apr 7, 2008 Quite a hoppy aroma, some good malt, amber, small off-white head. Taste begins with a hoppy punch, followed through by some nice malt. Light bodied, very bitter due to those hops. Very good, but I liked the former name (shower) better. Thank You Radek Kliber. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Mar 14, 2008 Bottle pours a mildly cloudy golden amber with a faint white head. Aroma includes tangerine, grapefruit, caramel and some hops. Very nice balanced flavor of hops and malt with noticeable aftertaste of alcohol and bitterness. Quite smooth considering it’s 9%. FleeVT (40), Boca Raton, Florida, USA Mar 12, 2008 Poured from 12oz. brown bottle with bottled on date. Pours a beautiful clear golden brew with a white head; like a ray of sunshine in my glass. Head fades quick but leaves a layer throughout the beer. The pilsner malts hit the nose first, with a speckling of hops. A caramel sweetness hangs back from the crowd. The 9% ABV is evident in the nose, with a cleansing effect on the balance. An unexpected dose of hops on the palate jumps out first. It provides a great balance to the caramel sweetness of the malts. Floral accents help the crisp clean finish. A creamy and heavy bodied pilsner. Moderate carbonation enhances the creaminess. I would definitely order again. Like most Dogfish offerings, it delivers an abundance of flavor. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Mar 8, 2008 12oz bottle - Gravity Beer Market - Olympia, WA
Aroma – Nice malty aroma. Had some hops also lingering in the nose.
Appearance – Golden in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – A nice easy to drink Pilsner flavor. Had some good malt and hops balance.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This is a strong ale that was very light to taste. Too many of these will send you to the headache arena.
bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden color with a white seemingly carbonated head. Definitely see why this is called an Imperial Pilsner, that’s definitely what it is. Sweet caramel flavor with some hoppy notes, very smooth flavor.
