3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2013 Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a finger and a half length head that goes away somewhat slowly. Smells of lots of citrus fruits from the centennial hops. Grapefruit, orange, maybe some pineapple, definitely get a lemon rind smell as well, some booze. A tiny hint of some sweet breadiness from the malt, but is overtaken by the intense citrus scents. Taste starts with a decent amount of bitterness, as well as some grapefruit, orange, and lemon. Get a nice creamy middle from the malt, along with some sweetness, but still getting more abrasive. Then the finish is tons of resinous hop flavors and a lot more lemon. Get a lot of grapefruit, a lot of pine, some orange. A ton of lemon rind, which is the last flavor to go on the finish. Almost get like a "cleaner" type flavor. More sweet breadiness shows through on the finish, which makes for a more balanced beer as it warms. It’s a much better beer at a warmer temperature. A slight touch of booze on the finish that doesn’t quite go well with the other flavors. Mouthfeel is creamy, oily, and somewhat sticky. high medium body. There are some good qualities to this beer, but overall it was a slight miss in my opinion for where my expectations were at.

Really good, nice in the glass, aromas of orange and spice, some cinnamon-spiciness up front, followed by citrus and lots of well-balanced hopping. Big and complex.

Pours clear brown-amber with a medium beige head, good retention, very fine lacing. Honey, lemon, tart cherry, and dark fruity aromas with toast, and some light floral notes. Medium body, medium carbonation, a bit alcohol hotness. Medium sweet, a little citrus tartness, lingering medium bitter finish. Complex, big beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The aroma is hops, citrus a little spruce and some maltiness in the background. Pours a clear copper/orange/brown, with off white head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. The taste is a medium bitter. The body is light to medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Cinnabar red-orange with a large, frothy white head. Big orange juice aroma - predominantly fruity with a definite bitter citric & pine undertone - with some spice (akin to a mix of black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon), rounded out with a bit of alcohol. Big bitterness - a mix of grapefruit and leather catcher’s mitt - with dried hibiscus flowers, light honey, vanilla malts. Sticky mouthfeel with prickly carbonation. Alcohol and spice seem to increase in pungency as it warms. Interesting and loud.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Chilled bottle. Pours amber, low carbonation. Taste is mahogany and cognac. Lemon is very late; this tastes almost English barley wine. Thoroughly enjoyed and wish I could have dragged out for hours.

Bottle from Jamestown S’Klallam Longhouse Market & Deli, Sequim
Hazy copper color with small head. Very nice aroma, peppery and lemony, and nice grainy malts; very light vanilla. Lean mouthfeel, soft, with some alcohol perceived immediately; grainy malt flavor, light colored caramel and hints of toffee; quite strong bitterness, soft hop resins, a light fruity touch from the hops and some citrus fruit peel. Balanced and powerful, not too heavy to drink.
Very nice beer.

15-MAY-2014, botlle @SpringHill Suites Newark, from Harrys Teeter, NoMa, Washington. My birthday gift (or part of it) from Marianne and the kids.
Very hazy orange with lasting, lacing off-white head.
Wonderful hoppy aroma with grape fruit and pine, over ripe fruit, liqour-like orange notes, alcohol. Taste the same. With even more citrus. Full body, medium carbonation, sweet but never cloying. Actually a bit dry on the long very bitter finish.
Fantastic. Just what i hope for in an IIPA. Thx family:-)
