Poured from a bomber. Pour slowly! Makes a huge, foamy, off-white head. Orange body. Great lacing all the way down the pint!Big-bad hops with a huge taste. Just the right amount of bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle. Originally reviewed 5/30/2011.
Big white head and a dark amber body. Head retention is good and the lacing is ample. A bit dark for an IPA, but it’s Dogfish, so I’m not surprised.
Smells of lemons and hops. Citrus character of the hops is overwhelmed by lemons. Smells malty, too. The combination reminds me of lemon Pine-Sol. It’s not really appealing.
The taste is better. The lemons don’t get in the way of any hop flavor. They seem to complement the hops and make it feel fresher. It really does just taste like 90 with lemons, though. No getting around it.
Heavy for an IPA. Too heavy, really. Fills me up way too quickly. I was glad I split the bottle with someone.
The smell is off-putting, but the taste is good, and that’s what I care about most. It’s 90 with lemons, which is an interesting twist, but I won’t be picking up any more of this.

Cloudy , amber color. Nice , off-white head. Honey , pine , lemon in aroma. Aggressive, hoppy bitterness balanced by caramel sweetness in taste. Good stuff from Dogfish, as usually.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at The Pour House in Westmont, NJ.
Pours a cloudy and very dark golden orange color with tangerine edges and a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind.
Earthy, floral hop aroma with lots of resinous pine countered by sweet citrus and a strong malt backbone. Grassy and dank notes follows by lemon juice and citrus peel. Carmael malt backbone with some toffee and biscuit character. Malts are too strong for my liking, overpowering the citrus and hop notes.
Medium bodied and fuller than expected with tight carbonation and a dry, earthy hop presence that provides prominent bitterness which lingers over the citrus notes and caramel malt backbone into a dry finish. Dank, earthy notes followed by lemon juice, citrus peel orange and grapefruit. Although there is some citrus sweetness, there’s not enough for my taste. Really dry and bitter and the malts are too strog for me as well. Lots of caramel sweetness, nut and toffee. Abv is very well masked but I’m not a big fan of this combination of flavors. Some peppery spice as well, maybe coriander or clove but this is very one dimensional and boring.

Bottle. Pale copper with a bit of haze. I know this bottle is past its prime, and the hops have faded a bit. Caramel, booze, and lemon/citrus. Moderate bitterness. Pretty hot still.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear brilliant copper with a thin off white rocky Delightful hoppy nose thats a bit grassy with lemon peel and floral hoppy resins, and a kiss of boozy caramel. Big powerful flavor with a punchy grassy and lemony hoppy bitterness. Balanced while remaining big, bitter, lemony sweet, and tangy. Lots of lemon flesh and peel in the flavor as well as a swell grassy and slightly piney bitterness. And loads of caramel, and a touch of booze.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle dated 09/30/2013, bought on clearance. Fully hazed caramel pour with an off-white head. Lemon and oxidized grassy hop aroma. Lemony grassy flavor, spicy hops, and an earthy oxidized hop character that’s not really bad. Holds up surprisingly well for a hoppy beer of this age. I actually like it this way.

2015.05.19-Dogfish Head Hellhound on My Ale-750ml bottle in pint glass.
Brief review. I've had this bottle for a few years so it's probably 2011 vintage.
As for the 100 IBU, that's long gone it seems but it still tastes delightful. There seems to be grapefruit-y remnants but I think most of the citrus is coming from the lemon at this point.
This is honestly tasting a bit like a year old Bells Hopslam. Golden ale with a bit of the "stale hops" taste (though not unpleasant) and citrus notes. The honey in Hopslam replaced by a more biscuity malty sweetness.
Not bad, even this old.
