3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Ho hum. Another bitter IPA. Great story. Hell hounds. Sold soul. Who could ask for anything more? Itís a well made, perfectly balanced IPA. Hard to tell itís 10% until you try to walk after finishing a bottle. Hard to tell itís 100 IBU because, well, again, it is perfectly balanced. No flaws. Nothing to complain about. But nothing to get excited about either. A hoppy hazy amber IPA, with a lot of lemon in the nose and the taste. i do like it. I donít love it. And with that much alcohol and with that kind of price tag, it should have been remarkable. Even a slight downgrade because of the price and the alcohol. Wonít do another bottle.

On draught at 2013 Holiday Ale Festival. Full golden color. Intense aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit, and pine hops. Taste is hop forward, with tangerine, grapefruit, and passionfruit, with a hint of sweet malts. Finishes with a pleasing bitterness and citrus note.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at brewpub. Pours golden, almost copperish with a thin head. I canít say in getting much citrus on the nose. It smells to me like a pine cone. Tastes like a pine cone too which a kind of what I expected given the style of the beer. Finish lingers a bit but it does hide the alcohol well. Itís not bad but I was hoping for more of the lemon thing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle....copper on the pour with a beige head....citrusy hops on the sniff....holy lemon!.....a burst followed by a quick hop bitter....well crafted (wouldnít expect anything less from DFH)...but its just a lot of lemon, even down to the bitterness of the seeds....not my favorite, could see this pairing well with a lemon pepper chicken, or some other lemon based protein dish

Hazy dark orange color, good creamy off-white head. Pineapple sweet fruity hoppyness in the nose, also pine needles. Medium-bodied. Sweetish fruity malt base covering the most of alcohol and IBUS. Piney finish. Sweetness kills action here.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bomber shared. first bit of aroma was lemon but then the citrus of the hops took over. bold hop aroma of citrus and malt. the flavor was a surprise at first but then I settled in to drink. lots of lacing on this glass and the centennial flavoring was like a double two hearted very tasty with the hops and minor lemon zest...solid malt backbone. not for the faint of heart.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled in 2012A. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy orange amber color with a dense 1-2 finger cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange peel, lemon peel, tangerine, orange rind, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, toast, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of citrus hops and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon peel, tangerine, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon peel, tangerine, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of citrus hop and malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately slick, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice DIPA, even at over a year old. Very nice complexity and balance of centennial hop, lemon peel, and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
