A very interesting beer. This beer is thin. The flavor original and very enjoyable and smooth, with the hint of vanilla and maple syrup coming through. Immort Ale is a little expensive but defintiely worth having for a special occasion.

Excellent tasting beer. Like drinking a meal in a bottle. Tons of flavor. Expensive however.

A very tasty barley wine. The alcohol is hard to detect behind the smooth (very smooth), sweet malty flavor. This one has the complexity of a wine. Interestingly, this beer tastes very similar to the Breckenridge Christmas Ale, albeit smoother and more complex. The Bell's Third Coast Old Ale is hoppier and not as thin as this one. Highly recommended.

(Bottle) My first review of a barleywine... the experience never ceases. This stuff looks beautiful. Pours a thin, almond coloured head and a great copper body. Sweet malt aroma with slight vanilla and apple scent. Flavours of sweet malt, vanilla and tobacco. The smoothest finishes to a beer I've ever had. So luxurious it has its own stalkers... sign me up as one. (Thanks to Hopscotch for this!)

Wooooohooooo!!!! Now, this is a barleywine. Very heavy, very sweet, very alcoholic. I feel that this is a very yourng beer and would benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar.

The first DFH beer that I thought really lived up to its billing. This is a rich conversational brew - good friends who are old combatants about issues of politics, spirituality, and love quietly conversing over cigars, coffee, brandy, good wine - oh hell, none of that, and all of it in a real, rich and exceptional barleywine in an atmposphere of good craic. I love especially the plush maple tones, maybe becuase I was out pruning my wild apple trees today in anticipation of spring and the rising sap season dreaming its way toward consciousness. This is brilliant stuff.

Deep golden to almost cooper coloration. It has a slight metalic taste to it, but I just finished a Dogfish stout 23%, and that could have something to do with it as well. This beer has a nice dry finish, with a small white-head. I agree with goz, you do notice somewhat of a vanilla hint and light carbonation. Alcohol is hidden nicely and this stuff is a damn good ale!

Pour is deep clear copper in color, with a small tan head that quickly receeds to a small ring of bubbles. Aroma is vinous, doughy, caramel, and some vanilla. Flavor is strongly sweet, with vanilla, caramel, maple, and some chocolate hints as well. Body is quite full, lightly carbonated, and the alcohol becomes more apparent as it gets warmer.

Light orange brown, big vanilla bean, alcohol nose. . . Caramel and maple flavours, good spice, wonderful mouth feel, sweet candy for the tongue. Lots of alcohol throughout.

Tnaks Brewso! Reminds me of a fine cognac. Very complex interplay between the malt sweetness and the smokey tobacco flavor. I wish I had a good cigar with this one. Alcohol presence is noted, but balanced. Drink this at celar to room temp to get a grasp on all fothe flavors. Another great offering from Dogfish Head. I only wish they bottle conditioned.
