COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vast in character, luscious & complex. Brewed with peat-smoked barley, this strong ale is brewed with organic juniper berries, vanilla & maple syrup. It’s aged on oak and fermented with a blend of English & Belgian yeasts.

Lots of sweetness and a nice, subtle smokiness that I really enjoyed. Not nearly as many IBUs as I would expect from a barleywine. The sweetness is there but alcohol hidden and so are the hops. Very smooth to drink, I like more hop character however.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2006 Big vanilla and malt nose. Rich palate that is very fruity. Fairly hoppy and sweet. A good complex beer.

Nice light amber body, off white head. Nose offered alcohol and light fruits, some floral hints. Well hopped for sure, or maybe that’s the yeast??? oh man. Big full mouthfeel, a nice smooth effect and a mildly astringent finish.

lets forget the price ok? this a fine brew my friends. there is a strong alcohol content, but the many different flavors surrounding it help to compliment and make it less over bearing. this is the most enjoyable brew of this caliber that i have ever had.

Dark copper pour with a thin wispy head.Has an almost iced tea-ish quality to the aroma. Wow this has some strong alcohol characteristics to it. Not hidden in the least. Nice malty sweetness with some faint cherry notes. oak comes through a little but the abv is just obliterating everything.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2006 Dark amber/light red color with small off white head. Aroma has caramel, nuttyness, fair amount of peat smoked malt, bit of vanill and oak. Flavor is malty, fair amount of caramel, touch of cherry and vanilla, bit of peat, and pepper. Finish is very sweet.

Amber, with a thin light tan. Fruit cake aroma. Nuts, cherries, raisins with a touch of oaken peat. Alcohol well hidden. If anything a touch sweet and cloying.

1/7/03: bottle. pretty head which quickly diminishes to a thin line of head with medium- low lacing. gorgeous colour. sparkling clear- almost the colour of a dark orange sunrise (with gradient.) Hint of maple and definite vanilla in the aroma. a bit yeasty, with a distinct maltiness. vanilla on the palate, with slight hints of orange.

The color is a gorgeous ruby/amber with fine bubbles, yeilding a fizzy, white head. Strangely, I find it a beautiful beer to watch effervesce, as it reminds me of champagne. The aroma is outstanding with hints of molasses, pine, chocolate and nuts. The palate is remarkably well-balanced with loads of molasses, pine, milk chocolate and roasted nuts. The finish is long, rich and satisfying, echoing the palate very well. There is a touch of bitter oak on the finish (tannic?) that balances the beer perfectly. After dinner or stand alone beer without any hesitation.

Amber color, clear, off-white tightly beaded head. Earthy aroma of yeast, malt, fruit, and alcohol. Same flavor with hints of vanilla and oak apparent as the beer warmed, full mouthfeel.
