Vast in character, luscious & complex. Brewed with peat-smoked barley, this strong ale is brewed with organic juniper berries, vanilla & maple syrup. It’s aged on oak and fermented with a blend of English & Belgian yeasts.

Has an almost overly complex flavor to it. Very strong, like it's been fermenting for years. Bright orange coloring, and a lot of carbonation. Has a lot of spice flavorings to it, and some nice fruit tinges.

tiger tones of toasted timpani-orange: the pour is lush, but the parafin head is delicate and retiring, given to periods of sullen withdrawal. agitation and earnest effort did rouse the reluctant head to describe an intricate candelabra of lace (i caught it on the camcorder, it was suh-weeet). elaphantine nose was irresistably attractive, and for a moment i felt like a fly: overcome with an enormous suicidal impulse to plunge myself into the beer and drown in a manic convulsion of ecstacy. the artistry of advanced zymurgy engendering this reaction was staggering in it's facsimiles of luscious loquacious liquers--libidinous with marinated pineapple rinds, great cunning sweetness, and light smokiness. strong and winning, with oak, alcohol and vanilla, a beer that you may as well give an endearing name to, because you'll spend at least an hour in it's engrossing and rewarding company. perfect brisk carbonation, hops are balancing but coy, and thier signature lingers on the finish. a monster buzz facilitates focused communications with antecedants of antiquity.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2003 Cider-colored, and yet nearly opaque. Steady stream of carbonation builds up a ring of foam. Nose is initially smoky, with underlying layers of bourbon, oak chips, cherry, and alcoholic depth. There's quite a lot going on with this beer, one of the more challenging I've encountered lately. Medium bodied. They're not lying...maple syrup and vanilla flavors, also tea, and a healthy dose of alcohol. Reminds me of Bell's 5000, although not as sweet. I remember cringing unexpectedly from the alcohol at one point, which surprised me considering how they hide it in WWS 18%. I'll probably revisit later on.

Very interesting beer. Definite cherry flavor and roasty, smoky palate. Strong tasting beer but very enjoyable.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2003 Smoke, malt, alcohol are what I notice up front. Maple sugar sweetness. Too much alcohol for my taste.

Lots of sweetness and a nice, subtle smokiness that I really enjoyed. Not nearly as many IBUs as I would expect from a barleywine. The sweetness is there but alcohol hidden and so are the hops. Very smooth to drink, I like more hop character however.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2006 Big vanilla and malt nose. Rich palate that is very fruity. Fairly hoppy and sweet. A good complex beer.

Nice light amber body, off white head. Nose offered alcohol and light fruits, some floral hints. Well hopped for sure, or maybe that’s the yeast??? oh man. Big full mouthfeel, a nice smooth effect and a mildly astringent finish.

lets forget the price ok? this a fine brew my friends. there is a strong alcohol content, but the many different flavors surrounding it help to compliment and make it less over bearing. this is the most enjoyable brew of this caliber that i have ever had.

Dark copper pour with a thin wispy head.Has an almost iced tea-ish quality to the aroma. Wow this has some strong alcohol characteristics to it. Not hidden in the least. Nice malty sweetness with some faint cherry notes. oak comes through a little but the abv is just obliterating everything.
