2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from October 26th, 2011. Looks like gross prune juice Smell is pretty big bodied, sweet malty forward.lots of dark fruits and obvious charcoal / peat nose. Whoa, this is a peat bomb. Smoky, almost medicinal, salty backbone and pretty much dominates the little bit of syrup and oak thatís there

Very mello barley wine flavor. The juniper berries add a sweetness unlike any other berry. Would make an awesome reduction turned into a pancake syrup.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle served in a tulip. Pours clear, viscous dark orange-brown with a short head. Complex malt and fruity nose with big peat, smoke, and oak with wafts of berries. The flavor matches almost perfectly. Medium-plus sweet. Full body, thick, sticky texture, soft carbonation and a light bitter finish. Awesome beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nose is almost off. Hints of dust and peat smoke with some malty complexity. Palate is nice, structured and refined. Very contemplative taste. Wild tobacco and peat smoke. Touch of syrupy gamey earth. Hops are not loud at all. Would drink again.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Poured from a bottle into a Martell glass from a gift set. Its like maple syrup covered pancakes mixed with french vanilla coffee, rolled up in the buzz of malt liquor. When i say itís good Iím saying itís real good! I paid like 4 bucks a bottle and after the first beer I threw away the receipt. And after all four bottles I threw away a bunch of my other personal belongings, but thatís what happens when you play the game. Live till you die MF everything will find a good home!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Poured a deep amber with a very thin head. A bit cloudy with a few floaters. Aroma and flavor were lots of malt: caramel, toffee, some molasses, some apricot, cherry, and other fruits, and a touch of smoke. I picked up some maple and a bit of wood. Not terribly boozy -- surprising given the ABV. It opened up a bit as a warmed, but it remained pretty tightly wound. Very few clearly identifiable flavors -- most of them blended together into a muddied uniformity. Normally Iíd call that "integrated" but I would have liked some more complexity. Probably letting it cellar would help.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Grill Next Door. Pours murky brown with no head. Aroma is riesling grape, vanilla, warm bread. Taste is balanced between sweet and bitter without a lot of individual flavors coming through. Some juniper in the finish. Abv is well hidden.
