Lots of smoke up front. Borderline campfire. Odd but not necessarily a bad thing. Very rich and malty. Smoke overpowers mild vanilla, maple notes. It does have a bit of a nasty high gravity flavor that can be a bit distracting. Pretty copper color. Clear. No head or lace. This is okay, but itís pretty confusing. The smoke is dominant but the underlying favors seem muddled. And I taste a definite oddball high gravity lager note. Smoke reminds of new glarus smoked rye ale, but really confused.

The beer pours a reddish color with a small head. Aroma has bourbon up front followed by some sweetness and figs. The taste has roasted plums, licorice, mild booze and some raisins. Very complex beer with a smooth finish.

draft that poured a brown color with white head. strong nose old ale/barley wine. strong malt backbone with hints of smoke, vanilla, oak and juniper...oh yes you can smell it. the flavor matches the aroma profile long slow sipper at 11% abv donít be in a rush as it warms the stronger the flavors come out. for me not a true barley wine but more of an old ale. either way its good.

As smooth a barley wine as Iíve encountered though the finish does have a zippy, alcohol-influenced tingle. The aroma is very thick, and with a little effort reveals vanilla and yeast with hints of smoke. The taste is evenly sweet and not too heavy. Poured from a bottle.

Pours natural maple syrup brown, slight foam head. Aroma of caramel notes, toast, wood, warm & sweet. First sip sweetish on back tongue, hides alcohol content. Smooth, aftertaste is lightly sweet, almost scotchy. Good beer for after dinner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. The pour is an amber color. The aroma is mostly malt. The taste has a complexness to it, kind of a mess. Don't get any of the flavor profile I was expecting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
