| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle at the Bistro. Brown coat with tan cap. Bright toffeeish nose & the flavors follow - Toffeeish, hints of coffee bite, goodly notes of sweetness like dememerra with an almost rootsy-herbal quality. Hops are more downstaged but have herbal woody character. Slightly reminiscent of Raison or Chicory DFH beers. ericandersnavy (1154), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Pours deep deep brown with a tall tan head that lasts forever and leaves great lacing. Aroma is full of chocolate, roast, toast, molasses, caramel/burned sugar, and fantastic spicy, planty hops. Flavor is roast, smores-lots of chocolate, toast, chocolate, sweet malts, and marshmallows-toast, lots of graham and a little coffee. Finish is sweet with lots of coffee/roast malts, chocolate, and a little bitterness. The thing I like about this beer is that the hop character may play a back seat to the huge maltiness but the malts are full and beyond rich while letting the hops establish a slight bitter balance-the balance is fantastic. Finish is all roast, toast, and chocolate; with the slightly bitter hop character playing second fiddle. I would recomend this beer to anyone wishing to find a highly desirable beer for the masses. Palate is medium to thick and perfectly carbonated to set the scene for the huge character for the beer. Rynoplasty (550), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2008 This brown ale poured a deep black colour with a nice big foamy tan head. To the nose there are scents of coffee, caramel, cocoa and molassass. First taste was smooth and very full bodied with flavours of coffee, hopps and cocoa. The finish is slightly bitter with flavours of coffee shining through. The palate is nothing but roast! Delicious!
