From bottle. Pours almost black with lite cream head. Smells of figs and has a spicy hop backbone. Taste is very similar to the aroma. Chewy thick mouthfeel with a sweet malty finish. Wonderful hybrid of a beer. Watch the alcohol b/c it's deceptively drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

March madness 2015. The aroma is not strong with coffee the most dominant contributor. The ale itself is smooth with good roasted malt notes. The roasted malt and hops work together nicely. The finish is not overly bitter.

12 pour from refrigerated bottle into a Spiegelau stout glass. Allowed to warm for a bit. Strong last. Moderate lacing and fairly strong retention. Brown or maybe dark ruby. Mostly opaque-- a tiny bit of transparency. Carbonation looks good. Nose is sugary, malty, and a little woody. Mouthfeel is a little weak, but mostly creamy. Taste is awesome. Scotch ale sweetness, brown ale maltiness, and a nice hoppy bitterness at the end. A bit of coffee and molasses. There?s a lot going on-- a bit hard for me to dissect the flavors. Great complexity.

March Madness 2015 - A nice brown ale but a really sour finish that is overpowering. So much potential but it doesn’t work for me.

Couleur brune foncé avec un col beige respectable. Aromes de noix, caramel, herbes, café. Respectable mais rien d’incroyable!

Really decent brown ale with great caramel look, smell, and taste. Off white head sticks around with lacing all the way down. Really enjoyed this Dogfish Head version.

Old rating. Hazy brown pour. Roasted malts, coffee, caramel, with some hop brightnessz balance isn't entirely in check, but still an interesting decent brown.

Lately I’ve really been into Indian Red Ales so maybe I picked this up at the wrong time. I love a good brown, but this combo just didn’t do it for me in the end. It’s a nice beer, but it probably would have been nicer with less of a hop character. Tasty anyways just not my favorite mash-up.

12oz bottle from Mitsuya’s poured into a tulip pint. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a big beige head. Nice lacing. Sorghum, brown sugar, prune, currants and roasted grain on the nose. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied leaning to the sweet side of the palate. As it warms up the fruit really stands out. Really solid brown ale.

35 cl bottle @ home. Pours clear reddish brown with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are toffee, caramel, and dried fruit - with a slightly dry finish.

Nose is dark bread/sweet. Flavor is same plus orange marmalade, mild citrus rind, roast, nutty, caramel accents, pine accents. Solid.
