I’m not a raging dogfish fan, but this ones pretty good. Nice deep dark pour with full head. Nose is full roasted malt with a fairly nice hop. Good chocolate presence. Flavor is rich and smooth all at once. Velvet-like. Good chocolate and hop balance. Liking this one.. Nice

Bottled. Pours a dark brown with a rather minimal tan head. Aroma is of coffee and hops, very pleasant. Taste is very much of coffee and bitter hops with a bit of malty sweetness and dark chocolate. Carbonation is light and it has a rather full body. Finish is long with bitterness followed by sweetness then becoming a bit astringent. A rather complex beer that has a lot going on. To me it tastes like a porter, an IPA, and a Scotch ale were crossed. A very good beer that mixes a few different styles and succeeds mightily at it.

Bottle. Dark brown. Hoppy, burnt sugar, malty, chocolate finish, smooth texture. A classic brown ale that I often overlook. Extremely well made and balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Un intreccio sensazionale tra il caramellato di una scotch ale, il luppolo trionfante e la nocciola e toffee di una brown ale. Risultato: atomico!!

It’s a great one, like a black IPA it has very strong roasty malts fighting for supremacy with hops. If you’re feeling in a mood for hoppy beer it’s great, and if you’re feeling in the mood for malty beer, it’s great. This is the Dogfish Head brew I would take any time.

A well rounded brown with all the right stuff. Always will drink. Not as hoppy as a usual DFH offering but a welcome change

355ml Bottle as a gift from Virginia:
Medium to dark copper & clear with a light, tan brown head that’s slightly foamy & about a 0.5cm tall with little initial movement.
Sweet & nutty with sugar & caramel coming through. Medium strength malts are there with hints of hops giving the beer a definite American style aroma. Darker fruits/raisins with some further sweetness, hints of chocolate & light bitterness come through as well.
Malty with plenty of hops & even some citrus. Some nutty flavours come through too with sweetness & caramel with some darker fruits too. Definitely not what I was expecting but a very nice taste with some roasted flavours, plenty of chocolate & faint bitterness towards the end as well.
Medium bodied, quite sweet on the palate with a sticky smooth feel that goes down with only a faint hint of alcohol showing. Carbonation was about medium with this one as well and the balance was a good one with the hops & malts working well together from the start.

Another excellent beer from Dogfish Head, I really enjoyed this one. Plenty of hops with some citrus as well which was unexpected but very nice. A great beer.

In recent months, a beer shelf at Milwaukee’s great Discount Liquor re-filled with Dogfish Head brews after the company’s self-imposed departure from the state. Ahhh, how wonderful the return! This brown ale is pretty darn perfect for a cold November night, with the coffee and chocolate aromas heralding measured sweetness. Not that our town lacks for excellent beer, but thanks for coming back.

Loved it. Cola colour, off white head reluctantly coaxed out from the low carbonation. Aroma of toffee, coffee, muscovado sugar. Flavours of toasty, caramelised.. Something. Hops are in there, as is bitterness but not certain what or how much.

Bottle. Brown with medium tan head. Aroma of caramelized sugar, malt, and some hops. Medium/heavy body, heavy caramelized sugar sweetness upfront, moderate hop bitterness, raisins, some boozy notes, and a slight oily finish. Not my favorite offering.
