4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 12 oz bottle pours deep brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate with some espresso notes, caramel malt, caramelized sugar, slight spicy hops and a subtle touch of alcohol. I had a taste of chocolate at first then I got caramelized sugar, vanilla, and slight hop bitterness in the back which helps balance

Love the deep red tone & clear pour. Very complex in both smell & taste. Very caramelized flavors. Easy to pick out the ginger & molasses tones of the flavor. Super excited to have it DogFish Head back in WI!!

Very dark reddish color. Malty hop caramel smell. Bitter taste. Little citrusy on the back end. Malted caramel on the front. This is my first Dogfish Head. So far good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown, cola coloured pour with a thin light tan head. Brown sugar, coffee and roasted malt on the nose. Taste is roasty, burnt sugar, coffee and chocolate, with nice bitterness cutting through all that at the end.

Hands down this is my favorite brown ale. Tastes great and even goes well with buttered popcorn and a movie.

Bottle. Pours clear brown with a decent beige white head that diminishes quickly leaving only a little lace. Aroma is caramel and molasses. Medium sweet and lightly bitter. Average to light carbonation, light body, thin texture and a smooth balanced finish. Quite nice.

Dark brown pour with a red background color. Tan head that quickly faded. Roasted malts with a coffee background. Taste reminds me of drinking a light porter. Very easy drinker, great beer.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark brown body with beige thick creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, cacao, vanilla, grass. Palate is soft, little oily and full.bodied. Carbonation is soft and mouthful. Taste has distinct roasty malty taste, with cacao, chocolate and and fruity hops twinkling in there in between. Finish has a milky coffee like consistency. Very interesting ale, and has many flavors that you wouldn’t expect in one ale. Enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a very dark brown colour, nearly like porter except it has a red tint when back lit. Light beige head is one- to two-finger thick and foamy. Retains poorly with curtain lacing. Carbonation low to moderate with small bubbles. Aroma strongly of coffee with a trace of subtle sweet caramel. Taste initially of sweet sugary caramel followed by roasted grain - taste not follow aroma. Medium body. Finished a bit sweet followed by coffee bitterness. Grows on you as you taste more of it. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice mild choclatey malting with a good effervescence. Some high fruit notes that go into a mild hoppiness mixed with burnt notes.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown, almost black pour with thin beige head and lots of dense, creamy lacing. Creamy mouthfeel, average to low carbonation, clean finish. Nose is ferrous, chocolate, molasses, and smooth roasted malts, very smooth. Very smooth balanced flavor: roasted malts, woodsy bonfire and chocolate, licorice and floral hops. Nice brown ale.
