I think this is a very good DFH brew. I got a sort of toasted malt note which is very pleasant. There is also just a hint of coffee on the end, not too much. The smell is enticing, and brings forth the brown sugar, with just a hint of coffee. The hops provide a nice accent on the end of this one.

On tap @ Battle N’ Rum, NYC. Clear but deep dark brown in the glass and it has a nice light lacing beige dense top. Really nice chocolaty sweet aroma with burned cocoa, chocolate paper, soft grass and a swift of vanilla ice cream. Not bad at all. Really round, somewhat sweet and really tasty flavors. It’s soft oily on the mouthfeel and just below average on the carbonation. Sweet chocolate, sweet cocoa, some faint instant coffee hints and a little bit of that vanilla. Nice stuff. 11.06.2013

12oz beer. What a classic beer. Unfiltered deep brown body. Big rich brown malt, sugary and bold. This is maybe the quintessential American Brown Ale. Robust and big, quality ingredients shine. Malty and restrained like a big Scotch Ale, but hoppy enough to be something different. Ahead of its time. Well done.

Pours a very dark but clear brown with a brown head. Aroma is malt, caramel, roastiness, licorice with some hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is high sweet leading to a sweet and hoppy and roasty finish. Great brown.

Hmmm. Tried again to rate for the first time, was one of my very first craft beers. Poured from 12oz bottle, a little light gets through showing the reddish brown color. Half finger of foam. Did not care for the aroma...it has a roasty note that I can’t quite place. The beer starts like a winter seasonal or porter, but thins out and finishes with a hint of cherry. Easy to drink, but not at the top of my list.

Love the deep red tone & clear pour. Very complex in both smell & taste. Very caramelized flavors. Easy to pick out the ginger & molasses tones of the flavor. Super excited to have it DogFish Head back in WI!!

Very dark reddish color. Malty hop caramel smell. Bitter taste. Little citrusy on the back end. Malted caramel on the front. This is my first Dogfish Head. So far good.

Dark brown, cola coloured pour with a thin light tan head. Brown sugar, coffee and roasted malt on the nose. Taste is roasty, burnt sugar, coffee and chocolate, with nice bitterness cutting through all that at the end.

Hands down this is my favorite brown ale. Tastes great and even goes well with buttered popcorn and a movie.

Bottle. Pours clear brown with a decent beige white head that diminishes quickly leaving only a little lace. Aroma is caramel and molasses. Medium sweet and lightly bitter. Average to light carbonation, light body, thin texture and a smooth balanced finish. Quite nice.

Dark brown pour with a red background color. Tan head that quickly faded. Roasted malts with a coffee background. Taste reminds me of drinking a light porter. Very easy drinker, great beer.
