I think this is a very good DFH brew. I got a sort of toasted malt note which is very pleasant. There is also just a hint of coffee on the end, not too much. The smell is enticing, and brings forth the brown sugar, with just a hint of coffee. The hops provide a nice accent on the end of this one.

dark smells that are very subtle like coffee and chocolate, dark, can’t see through in pint glass, medium strong flavor of roasted malts, little chocolate....finishes stronger of coffee, can’ t taste the hops as much as I thought I would...good but nothing stands out as being wonderfully impressive...

12 oz bottle. Aroma: malty, with leather, toffee, and cherry. Taste/Palate: starts crisp, thick, and sweet, and finishes crisp, bitter, and slightly astringent. One of the best beers to come from Dogfish, IMO. Fantastic!

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Color is a beautiful dark chestnut brown. Aroma is boozy at first. Taste is sweet, notes of molasses, brown sugar and Cap’n Crunch cereal (yellow box). Overall a really great beer!

Bottle. Brown pour with a light khaki head. Aroma has notes of brown sugar with nice earthy hops. Flavor is a great balance between hops and malts. Notes of floral hops with dried raisins and toasted sugar. Perfectly balanced. Very cool concept and very well done. Tasty.

355 ml bottle. Brown with tanned head. Smell is hoppy floral with candi sugar and caramel malty. Somewhat roasted. Taste is sweet caramel malty with candi sugar, roasted malt and hoppy floral and fruity. Taste is more like a black ipa than a crossover brown ale - ipa. Sweet with medium bitterness and low carbonation.

Pours cola brown with a minimal tan head. Hazelnut, coffee, roasted malt, and resinous aromas. Similiar flavors with some chocolate notes. Light to medium body. Smooth mouthfeel. Good hoppy brown ale.

Been so long since I had this, so I had to have it again, and I’m glad I did. This is a great beer. So many layers of flavor. Chocolate, sweet sugary goodness, nutty, coffee, hops. Yum!
