interesting - has the looks of a brown ale - doesn’t taste like one much though. medium to thick body - backbone seems more brown sugary than malty though. well hopped - but not really quite to "indian" levels... not terribly complex in flavor. comes across like a scotch ale with a bit more bitterness too it. enjoyable.

Very nice brown ale. Hop heavy but still has a nice dose of roast. Pours mahogany with mocha head and lacing. Medium bitter finish with a light note of dark chocolate. Bottle thanks to the roommate.

This is a beer that has such a hoppy front with the most flavor on the back. The malt character, the roastyness and all the sweet caramel and smooth flavor just really makes this a favorite of mine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Brown pour, thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bready yeast, spicy and brown sugar. Flavor is quite bitter, spicy and with a decent body. Well balanced. More like a Belgian Dubbel.

Draft. Aroma is a danker hop with some dry chocolate malt. Appearance is a darker brown, with some tan lacing. Taste is a darker brown ale that ends with lots of dank hops at the end. Palate is dark and hoppy. Overall, a good beer. Will buy again and again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice deep brown clear poor with lasting fluffy white head. Aroma of roast and mollases. Taste is bitter sweet with the mollases coming through strongly. Enjoyable beer.

Bottle, 10C. Clear deep brown with a beige head that laces well. Aroma is malty and spicy with some figs and sultanas. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Fairly sweet with enough bitterness that it doesn’t seem that rich. Chocolate, sticky breadcrusts, light spices. Wholesome and harmonious.

At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Had no idea what to expect of style so a cool temperature seemed apt. Deepest, darkest brown and opaque with a fine, tight bead and a thin pad of sandy cream atop. Big waft of cocoa and rpasted carob dominates the nose with minor licks of tangerine, cola and root beer, burnt toast and burnt, savoury raisins. Creamy mouthfeel, velvety even. Rounded, sumptuous body with a smooth finish. Chocolate malts dominate here as the nose. A tannic, dark berry note in back gives it a fruity element and then it is all dusty cocoa powder, carob and chocolate icecream in the finish. Light rust and blood, a higher, heated alcohol kick and plenty of wood and peanut husks in the aftertaste give it complexity. This is a nice brew. More Brown ale than Scotch ale and by no means showing any inkling of IPA. Great drinking though! (12fl.Oz, Bottled on 05/07/14, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
