Rhizing Bines is a collaborative IPA using the best of both coasts: Carolina-grown red fife wheat and Dogfish Headís continual-hopping from the East and Sierra Nevadaís estate-grown caramel malt and Torpedo dry-hopping from the west.

750 ML bottle poured into my Spigalau ipa glass. Pours a clear orangish amber color with a thick fluffy white head that leaves awesome lacing. Smells of wheat, caramel, citrus and butter. Tastes of all the same things but is a little on the sweet side which was unexpected also getting a sour note on the back end as well. Mouthfeel is mild and creamy with great carbonation and a dry finish. This is what I would expect from 2 of the most popular hop based breweries. You can definitely taste the influence from both west coast and east coast. It turned out well. This is really well balanced, I canít even tell its a 8% abv beer. Cheers!

5 June 2013, bottle, tasted with DFH's new tasting glass! Yellow, clear, steady bubbles, thick white head. Nose is rich granola malt, big grassy hops, moderately sweet alcohol. Med body and moderately fizzy. Very nice and refreshing. Sugary, grassy hops, mild golden syrup, some botanics. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nicely balanced brew. Buttery mouthfeel, especially for a sweetly hoppy IPA. Could complement a wide variety of meals.

The hop profile is funky and earthy but not all together appetizing. On the palate there isnít anything terribly unique there, but it is a decent IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2013 Poured from bottle into a DFH/SN IPA glass. Pours a clear golden color with a very thick fluffy slightly off white head with some lacing. Moderate aroma that is a balance of malty sweetness with a hoppy bitterness. Complex taste that is not overwhelming like some other Imperial IPAs. Slight bite upfront but then changes to the sweetness from the caramel malts but then fades with a different hop profile on the aftertaste. Some notes of pine and pineapple on the hop notes. Very well balanced between hops and malts, especially for any variety of IPA. Not taste of alcohol even though 8% ABV. Very well carbonated, not too sharp; clean mouthfeel. Would very a nice sipping beer outside in the summer by the pool.

On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Very slightly hazy amber body with a creamy light tan head.
Aroma: Caramel malts with a touch of grapefruit and pine.
Taste: Sweet caramel and toasted malts are balanced by orange, pine and floral notes. Bitterness is light to moderate.
Palate: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a bit of a let down, nothing about this stands out. Itís easy to drink, but I canít think of any reason I would buy this.

Pours a clear orange, very nice lasting head that throws a great lace, I suppose from the wheat content. Aroma is lightly of greenish citric hops, faint caramel malt. Flavor is a match, Malt sweetness, a hint of grain, followed by balancing bitterness. Hop character is remarkably subdued, slightly earthy in nature. Really lovely balance. I wish the hop flavors had been more assertive, but this was a very nicely made beer. Probably better than this score indicates.

Bottle. Attractive pour ... crystal clear, pure amber, with a nice rocky head of gurgling foam. Not much aroma here, and the beer drinks with a suspiciously easy-going style ... exceptionally smooth, smacking with just a friendly little quota of earthy, green hoppiness, and just enough alcohol burn to make you wonder whether this might be high gravity, but not enough to convince you that it is. This is a delicately assembled brew, thatís for sure! (#5041, 5/27/2013)
