Rhizing Bines is a collaborative IPA using the best of both coasts: Carolina-grown red fife wheat and Dogfish Headís continual-hopping from the East and Sierra Nevadaís estate-grown caramel malt and Torpedo dry-hopping from the west.

3/4/13. 750mL bottle from Grassroots thanks to cbfobes! Clear golden copper pour with a big thick khaki head that sticks and laces a ton. Surprisingly laid back aroma with caramel, toasted bread, doughy malts, and a hint of perfumey hops. A surprisingly laid back flavor as well with perfumey hops, toasted breads, doughiness, and caramel. Very laid back. The hops are subdued, the alcohol is masked extremely well, and this is very laid back... if someone handed this to me, I might think it was a Vienna lager or something. Itís very good, but I was expecting a DIPA. Confused.

Truly, Dogfish can do no wrong. A very nice IPA. Silky smooth in pour and palate. Well balanced in hops and bitterness. Quite malt-forward in backbone, providing a depth in flavor that is atypically a bit sweet or fruity. Overall, the beer is a fun, interesting IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured into glass. I was expecting something sort of crazy from Dogfish since all the previous releases from them have included ingredients I canít even pronounce. This one however is just a straight forward DIPA, no frills, just straight to the point.

750----> New Belgium globe. Pours a pretty orange/amber with a big fluffy white head and crazy lace. This is where the good stuff stops. It smells like a lager with some perfume thrown in. Tastes kind of boozy with some off putting malt and yeast flavors with some florals thrown in at the end. Pretty thin and surprisingly little carbonation. Basically, this one kind of sucks.

the beer is thin with a weak presence of paper and sharp bite. the flavor is standard but totally undrinkable. I get a nice constant flavor but not much else.

The aroma is grassy and has leaves, paper, herbs, and pale malts. The appearance is golden with a medium foamy head. The taste is like the aroma but astringent. The palate is thin. Overall this is not even average.

Pretty disappointing. For in IPA with both Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada's name in this is pretty underwhelming. Pours a clear amber brown, little head or lacing. Earthy aroma and flavor, none of the big hop flavors I would expect. Almost reminds me of Belgian yeast flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is one shitty beer. Tastes boozy and bitter and sweet with no real aroma elements or anything to make it... good.

Wow....what a disappointing beer. Was expecting hoppy goodness but this fell flat. Come on DFH you are better than this!

750 ml. bottle- Pours slightly hazy orange with a huge creamy three finger head that never goes away leaving ice cream like appearance and nice lace. Aroma is grapefruit, spicy hops, floral, sweet malt. Taste is light sweet malt followed by a mild bitterness followed by more candy like sweetness. This has less IBUís than I was thinking it would, or rather the hops are well disguised. The finish is dry and lingers long after the swallow. Good, another experimental DIPA, the other one being New Belgium Rampant which I rated last night, both are well crafted.
