In short: A very clean, sweet juicy-fruity golden IPA, low on aromatic, low on complexity, low on excitement. Very boring.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed very fresh a few weeks after the beer was first release.
The look: Crystal clear pale-golden body topped by a medium off-white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is not exactly a hop-bomb, a smell of canned fruits (canned apricots, canned peaches, etc.) along with sweet bananas. Taste is more of the same. Sweet not-so-fresh fruits, really felt like drinking the leftover sweet from canned fruits, too much booze for a 8% beer, high sweetness sensation, timid juicy fruity hops, hops resin in the finish. Very soft carbonation. Not sure what to make of this. Like drinking a sweet mix-fruit breakfast juice with a few bubbles followed by a resinous bitterness. This beer is as clean as clean can be and therefore somewhat drinkable, but I found it boring as hell, not a bad beer, just really really really boring. And I have no clue what the hell Life & Limb Rhizing Bines means, hey brewers, if you are going to make a beer that insults my intelligence please use simple words so I can understand.

(bottle - 750 ml) Cloudy orange pour with a thin white head. Citrus and pine are heavy in the aroma with a hint of pepper and floral under it. Flavor is bitter hops with a heavy pine undertone and a bitter and lingering citrus finish.

"Full disclosure - I did not pay for this bottle, and wouldn’t have. I’ll drop $14 or more on a 750 in a heartbeat, but not for a wheat IPA bordering on a double. This did not exceed expectations, either. Nice aroma of pine and spicy hops...same in the finish. But, even though this is fresh, and dry hopped, it did not taste fresh. Too malt heavy. Pretty pleasant beer, but an absolute rip off at the price."

Transfer from BA review on 3-26-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a medium amber color golden color with a nice one finger pure white head. The head has very good retention, slowly fading over time to leave a great level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma was not all the heavy but consisted of a nice blend of fruity aromas as well as some other lighter hop smells . The fruit was a mix of melon and some tropical notes of tangerine and mango with the hoppy notes being mostly of a nice mix of grapefruit, floral, pine and herbal smells. Taste – The taste begins with a mild hop flavor of a grapefruit nature and a fruity flavor. The fruit flavors are mainly of a melon nature creating a rather sweet and lightly hopped flavor. As the taste advances other hop flavors begin coming to the tongue as well the melon lightening to a small extent. The hop flavors that begin taking over are of a more herbal like nature with the melon now being replaced by some flavors of honey and a light tropical fruit flavor. Toward the end, more hop flavors of an herbal and grassy nature dominate the hop taste to leave a moderately sweet and “green” flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the more syrupy and thick side with a carbonation level that was rather average to just above average. The syrupy feel actually complemented the melon flavors quite nicely in my opinion giving it a more chewy yet slick fruit watery fruit like feel of a melon. The carbonation being on the average to just above average side was furthermore both nice of the melon as well as made for a quite easily drinkable beer. While the carbonation was nice for the melon flavor, it did hide some of the hop flavors, so… it is sorta a toss up on the mouthfeel. Overall – A fairly melon sweet but overall quite drinkable brew with a good hop blend. While I would have liked a little more hoppiness, it was overall a quite enjoyable drink.

Bottle. Spicy and pungent cat pee and pineapple hops aroma with some other tropical fruit notes and some base malt sweetness. Hazy copper under a pristine cover laced with large bubbles. Spicy melanoidin malt with some cardboard, most likely from extended storage. Tropical and spicy hops with pine and pineapple notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, faintly bitter finish.

Pours a hazy caramel gold, with good lacing. Caramel and citrus in the smell. Hints of honey and orange peel in the taste. Creamy mouthfeel. Very well balanced.

une belle ipa bien foncé, ambré qui nous offre un gout de caramel qui ne prend pas tout la place et que l’alcool estompe vite en bouche pour laisser la place aux houblons

Slightly funky barnyard Saison aromas off this medium yellow body with a white head. I would have guessed there was Brett in this, but it doesn’t mention anything about that. The initial flavor is pungent and dry with notes of hay and mushrooms. This gives way to a much softer wheaty taste and then a strikingly astringent bitterness. However, an incredibly focused caramel sweetness cuts through the middle of this in a reversal of what you usually get with an IPA. Not to worry, that bitterness lays into your tongue with a strong citrus pith character and doesn’t let go while the sweetness slides over it. It’s then that the alcohol attempts to wash things clean with a strong booziness, but the bitter hangs on tenaciously. In the end, with all this swirling around, the finish is quiet and bitter with just a trace of the initial barnyard funkiness. This is unlike any IPA (or any beer for that matter) I’ve ever had!
