COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rhizing Bines is a collaborative IPA using the best of both coasts: Carolina-grown red fife wheat and Dogfish Head’s continual-hopping from the East and Sierra Nevada’s estate-grown caramel malt and Torpedo dry-hopping from the west.

THOUGHTS: Quite underwhelming. Very interesting hop profile but it blended into the malts too much. I just thought it was an odd choice for a hop profile when you just release a glass made to showcase hop flavor and aroma. This beer has hop aroma and flavor no on is all that accustomed to. And I don’t know if the glass really makes these particular hops taste as good as more traditional hops do in this glass. Not to say you need to drink it from that glass, but the two products did come out about the same time — just sayin’. Some collaborations are incredible, but the three times these two guys got together have been disappointing to me. I guess it doesn’t help that I dislike melons. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light, orangey amber with a large, fluffy, off-white head that mostly diminished an left good lacing. The aroma had light bread, grain, cereal and caramel; moderate floral, lemon, and melon hops; light other citrus hops; and hints of minty hops. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was heavily sweet and moderately bitter with an average duration. There was caramel, melon hops, hints of minty hops, lemon hops, other citrus hops, hints of resinous hops, cereal grains, berries, alcohol and pine hops. The light to medium body was oily and somewhat syrupy with soft yet tingly carbonation and a lightly metallic finish.

Hazy golden color, small head. Moderate fruity aroma, light biscuity malts; good body strength, good malt flavor, a soft pale malt, it comes with a pleasant light sweetness, and a good portion of fruity hops. Strong bitterness, but that was expected.
I guess that fresh and from tap this could be great. Appreciated mostly because of its balance.

Bomber as a Christmas present. Pale yellow. Big fluffy head. Fresh hop aroma. Semi sweet flavor with a boozy finish. Some tropical fruit in the hops. Nice. The boozy flavor is a little much, but a very pleasant brew.

Dark cloudy yellow with creamy foam. Wonderful malty caramel flavors with thick resinous sweet hop flavors. Nice coffee in the finish. Excellent!

A great beer with the look I like. Cloudy and yeasty looking with an aroma I loved. 8% but didn't taste like it. I'd definitely drink this one again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle, thanks Aleksi & Jay

Bottled 01/29/13 - Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of aged hops, vegetables, caramely malts and mild hints of hops. Taste is sweet, malty and caramely with hints of toffee, aged hops and citrus. Finish is crisp, malty and sweet with loads of caramel, toffee and hints of aged hops. Would probably be pretty good from a fresh bottle, but this one is just way too old.

The aroma is hops and malt; caramel and spruce/grass. Pours a clear copper/orange with off-white head, mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy and the carbonation average, the finish bitter. Very good.

Bottle. A somewhat strangetasting IPA; some caramelly malts, some wheat taste and a slightly off-hand, bitter hoppy taste. Tried to warm it a little but still found it to be a bit too unbalanced (and not in an interesting way) for my taste.

750 mL bottle from Uptown Market in Braverton, OR. Aroma is floral and sickly sweet, with hints of honey, bubblegum, and cotton candy. Mouthfeel and taste is way too sweet throughout, with a bit of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Hard to drink much of this one.

Poured from a 750ml. Color is a nice amber color although the beer is very cloudy and it looks "thick". Aroma and flavor are floral/citrus with a nice subtle bitterness in the after taste. The beer is very easy drinking for the 8%, but the price point is highway robbery. You do pay for the name and I am a sucker for Dogfish Head...

Dark gold pour with a small head, very nice aroma. Pine and citrus flavors with a bit of malt coming through.
