3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 qwak (25) - Yokosuka, - JAN 9, 2005
I can’t honestly rate this beer, as i drank it 2 weeks ago. so instead i’m just going to add commentary from when it was drank:
rudolf: i dont know if i wanna drink a 40 before having to move heavy stuff tomorrow.
qwak: ahh screw it, it cant be that strong.
rudolf: hrmm, its only 7%, that means, 20 times 7 is 140.
qwak: your math is off, 140 what?
rudolf: 140 somethings?
qwak: you mean 1.4 oucnes of alcohol.
rudolf: 1.4 ounces of PURE alcohol
...
1 cigarette later:
qwak: you know, thats 3 and a half shots.
rudolf: of tanqueray.
qwak: of ANY 80 proof liquor.
rudolf: oh god.
... rudolf: (funny accent) you know, this’d be really nice if they aged it in bourbon casks
rudolf: (normal voice) oh please god no i dont wanna buy a $15 40!
... and after it was drank: qwak: so any molecule that contains carbon is considered organic.
rudolf: so you’re saying water isn’t organic?
qwak: yeah.
rudolf: that’s dumb.

A yellow/ golden beer with a corn, malt and grain aroma. Malty sweet taste with that feels syrupy. It was interesting.

bottle shared (reluctantly) by justin at dak’s on 1/2/11.
pours hazy and the same color as the big round table at papago.
it smells like tortillas...hmm. there are also notes of orange, lemon, vanilla, peach, mangosteens, straw, pale malt, peppery spice and honey in the aroma.
the flavor is the same along with some apple juice. it is not too sweet and quite well done. i’m not a huge dfh fan but this is a style i’d think they could do well with... 8/4/8/4/16+

Malt Liquor Appreciation Day 2011; 40 oz. bottle thanks to Alex (I think); kick ass presentation for sure w/ the bag and stamp; I’ll be stepping it up a notch when I bottle my own malt liquor in corked and caged 750’s and delivered in paper bags; take that Sam!! Pours dark orange and slightly cloudy with huge foamy white head; aromas of stale malt, dry honey and rice; very lively nose from the eggy head; flavor-wise it fails to deliver on the promising nose; stale honey, dry cereal grains; better than the People’s PInt craft version but this ain’t no Country Club!!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 riversideAK (4566) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 6, 2011
Nice amount of corn in the nose. Sweet, somewhat fruity as well as with hints of alcohol and earthy hop notes. Pours golden orange, decent head, low retention. The flavor is nice and corny throughout, sweet but not cloying, little hop notes in the finish. A touch of alcohol at 7% which is interesting. Well done and enjoyable.

Bottle pours like hazy mexico water with a white head. Aroma is sweet
and grainy showing mango, corn, and light citrus. Flavor shows the same with an additional honey sweetness. Gotta love the paper bag.

I’m a little nervous to drink this. After spending many malt liquor mondays in college pounding 40s I developed a strong dislike of malt liquor. Before any was drank we poured a little out for the homies who couldn’t be there. Murky yellow/brown color with a nice, fluffy white head. Aroma is sweet with corn. Flavor is similarly sweet with some bread and more corn involved. Unlike most malt liquors this didn’t have any metallic quality to the flavor. Really good take on the style, and I had a lot of fun drinking this for the novelty that it is.

Live Rate! Bottle shared at Dakine’s house by Justin -- thanks! Pours a brackish urine color with a thin film of white foam. Smells of apple cider and skunky yeast. Tastes suprisngly good -- loaded with red apple skins, corn, caramel, and pale malt. Probably the best malt liquor I’ve ever had.
