haggis03a3 (90), Piedmont, California, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a very golden color with no head. Aroma of biscuit, honey and a bit of saffron. Tangy, sweet, dry and fruity. Tastes like a mead with malt. Palate is soft, full-bodied, smooth, and ends with fizz. Tastes unique and historical. Rciesla (674), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle and on draft. A decent DFH offering. Pours a golden orange body hazy with an off white head. Aroma is sweet honely some vinous aromas and etoh. Some hop character as expected from DFH. Wine and honey very different. I like it. carl4beer (216), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2008 12 oz. pours deep golden and clear with a small white head. aroma is sweet with a slight vinous touch. mouthful is very full of flavor. there is honey, saffron, and many other flavors bombarding the senses in a great fashion. the spices make is seem like a meal in a bottle. nice nice nice robertjm (223), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 1, 2008 Small white head. Cloudy orange colored. Aroma is very similar to a Belgian style. Body is somewhat thick. Alcohol and honey tones in flavor. Saffron has a very unique charactor and is not overly noticeable in this. Nicely warming in the aftertaste with a definite wine character along with it.. They don’t list yeast amongst their ingredients so I’m assuming maybe they’re using the wild yeast from either the skins of the muscat grapes or from that residue found in King Midas’ tomb, they mention. I’ve been waiting for over THREE years for my friend to bring me some back from DC. Glad he was able to finally. I’d buy this again. Now I hear DFH is coming to California. Sure hope this is one of them!!!!! oteyj (232), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours golden with two finger head. Aromas typical of a pilesner with notes of honey and caramel. Flavor is light but pronounced- good malt character with some fruity notes as well as honey and caramel. Alcohol tingles a bit near the finish. Enjoyable and refreshing.
