2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
At my place with watching a French movie by myself after work. Aroma is cantellop, soft Mellon. Taste is soft on the front then a big raw malt lager bite. It is interesting and good in some ways, but the big imperial lager malt note is too much too dry and lasts too long.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Medium gold pour, thick white head...nice. Nose is green grain and European hops. Bitter, with medium mouth-feel. Middle is light roasted grain and hint of pear. Finish is alcohol and hop bitterness. It is hard for me to find lagers I really like, this is one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Gaithersburg. Clear golden color, really great for hops, just right as in Jever, but bigger.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is best described simply as a strong pilsner, insofar that it reflects pretty standard attributes of the authentic Czech pilsner style and intensifies them. Aroma was a strong but standard strawish pilsner malt with some spicy hop notes. Not quite sure what to make of the appearance, standard full golden color, although may have had some unusual haziness to it. Taste was bitterly refreshing, good balance of pale malt and hops, some notes of lemon. Emphasis seemed to be on the noble hops rather than west coast hops. Highlight for me was the full-bodied mouthfeel that had a grainy texture but still managed to finish smoothly. Distinctive overall, I would be interested in drinking a full pint of this to see how filling it is and get a better look at the appearance (this review based on a 4 ounce beer festival sample). A good first impression of Dogfish Head brewing.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml served in a Sam Adams perfect pint glass
A - Hazy pale straw with a thick 2 finger head takes forever to sink. The beer leaves behind some nice chunky lacing.
S - Straw, alfalfa, pilsner malts, grainy, lemons, grassy, musty lager yeast, some skunk upfront but that fades as it sets.
T - Spicy hops upfront, lemongrass, citrus - lemons, and mandarin oranges, chalky yeast, sweet grainy malts, the peppery hops keep going into the finish. Some green medicinal notes come out as well as some astringency toward the peppery citrus finish.
M - Medium body, very smooth feel with adequate carbonation. Dry finish.
There’s something strange coming from this beer. Not sure if these hop varieties play well together. I didn’t love it as much as I’d hoped. Lemon cough medicine kept coming to mind. Smells better than it tastes.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy deep straw with a thin foamy white sticky cap. Aroma is sweet notes of really good honey, and really good bread, caramel, floral hops, bit of alcohol. The flavour is heavy on the honey, with some definite pilsner like malt and hop notes, spicy hops, and grainy malts, all elevated with a nice sweet bread and honey profile. Tasty. Full bodied with a nice light dryness. Super solid and interesting.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a transparent deeper gold with foamy white head. Smells of mild grainand even milder hops. Tastes like it smells with a bit of sweetness and an average mouthfeel. Underwhelming.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This sobstory from dogfishhead pours a beautiful hazy golden color with slowly rising bubbles. The head is pure white, frothy and thick and holds a massive foamy presence at the top of the glass. The aroma is light malts, grass and fruit. The flavor is deep plum, dark malt and belgian yeast along with fermenting grass. One badass seasonal for a 26 degree day in Austin. Warms the gullet and numbs the tongue.
