Draught. At Kitchen and at Denver Rare Beer Tasting. at Wynkoops Denver Rare Beer Tasting this was a very refreshing brew next to other’s like Dark Lord, Black Butte xxii, Sexual Chocolate etc. Yellow with white head. Aroma is orange, coriander, lemongrass, lime, and wheat. Flavor follows bubbly on tongue hoppy, and spiced.

Appearance: bright cloudy golden orange with a rich foamy white head that shrinks to a collar; nice lace. Aroma: orange and other citrus, wheat and hay, coriander. Taste: loads of citrus (mainly orange), hay and grass, spices (coriander and clove), with a big crackery wheat. Finish: clean, dry and crisp and the spices give way to fresh dough. Notes: Very nice white. A little on the spicy side, but the bread and wheat balance nicely with the citrus. The mouth is velvety smooth and yet has a nicely balancing carbonated tingle. Great brew to wrap up summer.

On draft at the brewpub. Typical pour and appearance. The aroma was coriander, strong oranges, wheat base. The flavor followed with oranges being the strongest element, coriander, wheaty notes, and then a touch of lemon / lemongrass and honey underneath. The mouthfeel was full, a touch sticky, not atypical of many a DFH product.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 brigg (416) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 4, 2010
(bottle) A big foamy white head with a yellowish tinge, and a cloudy golden body. The corriander, orange peel, and lemon grass are all very evident in the aroma; also wood, yeast and hops. Medium bodied and oily mouthfeel. Musky, spicy flavor of wood and yeast. Of the three "special" ingredients, the coriander is the most noticeable, but the orange peel is there, and the lemongrass comes through mainly in the aftertaste. It actually grows sweeter on the way back.

Bottle. Pale, slightly hazy, big fluffy white head. Smell that Belgian peppery, spicy, fruity, flowery perfumy aroma. Hmm. Flavor has a lovely smoothness, maybe it’s that coriander. Gives the high ceilinged flavors of the typical wit a nice, complementary floor. It does have that Asian flavor, like a hint of a mild Thai curry. Orange flavor is background. I love the spicy complexity of this beer. Would be a wonderful thing to have on hand for a summer picnic - I should have saved it for the weekend!
